2012 C63 AMG - Annoying wind whistling noise?
Has anyone else had this problem?
I just bought a 2012 C63 AMG and when the windows are down at around 40-60mph, if the wind is gusting right, there is loud high pitched wind whistling noise coming from directly behind my left ear.
It sounds like it might be related to the seatbelt or somewhere around there but I've tried everything (holding seatbelt, riding with seatbelt off, riding with seatbelt wrapped around the back of the seat, putting arm out the window, putting entire hand out the window, putting entire arm out window while waving hand frantically (pretty amusing sight)), but the noise persists.
It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does its loud and its annoying. It happens on the passenger side as well.
Anyone hear of this? I tried searching for "wind whistling", etc, and didn't find anything in this forum.

Yes! In my '12 Coupe. Very annoying and seems to be worse with the roof open. If there's a bit of a cross breeze it wails/whistles like a banshee. Actually scared me a bit the first time it happened.

Has anyone asked the dealership whats going on with it? Seems like a design flaw, but I can't for the life of me figure out where its coming from.

I have a very noticeable whistle noise with all windows up when I cruise at speeds above 90mph. It seems to be coming from the sunroof. I had the dealer change the seal but it is still doing it sometimes.
I am glad I do not live in Germany as cruising at that speed is not appreciated by the authorities in this country.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Mine too, bad in a crosswind. If I hold my hand along the bottom of the outside mirror I can get it to stop. It is very annoying ! I agree that sometimes it is so bad I want to put the windows back up, too bad...

my car has a whistle between 100-120MPH it's weird, I only realized this today, and is a high pitch. I believe it comes from the center windshield area. that what it sounds like. Any idea ?

I think it's a flaw in the design of the car, and the way the air is channeled behind the seatbelt. so I don't think dealers can really do anything about it anyway.

2012 AMG C63 Coupe
Hi All, obviously new here but have been lurking for a while. Has anyone found or know of the solution to this whistling problem? Called my local MB service center here in Australia today and they claimed that it was the first time they heard of this issue. I Find this hard to believe when it seems to be a common problem across all C Class Coupes. I first read about the problem on this forum prior to buying the car and was just interested to know if MB have recognized there is a design flaw and if there was a fix. Has anyone here contacted MB customer service and received any feedback? I did ask the dealer to email MB on my behalf & they refused to unless all their checks are carried out first. I'm taking in to the dealer next week. Apart from this the car has been fantastic! No other issues at all, knock on wood.
