I got a call from my MB dealer claiming that there's a shortage of AMG engines and that I should just put a down payment to "reserve" my spot....

Thoughts? I smell BS. Also, I'm thinking that MB might put a turbo in 2014 models given that everyone seems to be going in that direction. I'd prefer the turbo for the mpg and tunability.

I heard the same thing from a DC area dealer ~3 weeks ago.

I pretty much assume anything/everything they say is BS ... but maybe there is some truth to this one.

I heard the same thing from three different dealers. Their comments though I thought were in regards to total production numbers for MY 2012 being lower than planned due to an engine shortage. I pressed none of them for details and just moved on with my searches.

Can anyone share some insight on this question I have.
Is the M156 block shared with any other models other then the SLS?
I was told there is a shortage of M156 engines being produced for the C63 2014 MY because it shares the same block as the new S class W222?

It sounds like a rumor. The M156 and M159 are the only ones using the same block. As we all know, the days are numbered for this engine, unfortunately.
