2009 C63 AMG
If there are dealers slapping on AMG badges on non-AMG cars...does that mean some dealers might be swindling unsuspecting people who do not know any better? Why would MBUSA allow this to happen?

Here we go again....
I personally don't think that adding an AMG badge on a regular MB car is bad, nor good. It's just the way it's been for decades: Adding an //M on the right side of a 328, or even adding STi lettering when your car is a simple WRX (or even a regular Impreza) denotes the passion they have for the brand, or is just the idea of having something special, even if it isn't. Yeah, some guys go too far adding an entire array of badges, but who cares? They see us as the lucky ones... Think about that.

i agree that this is all just weird. i know that at least back in the early 2000's, dealers had "amg" on their sport version, like the E420 sport. i actually knew someone that bought one. i think the cosmetically amg cars should have a different version of the badge, like one painted in hot pink or something.

i've been talking about getting black rims for a few weeks now and my friend sent me this pic he took over the weekend in georgetown in dc. at first glance i was just looking at the wheels and then i was trying to figure out how big they were and noticed that something was just off about the car. finally realized it wasn't a c63, but instead just had the 6.3 amg badges on the side (and most likely on the back with potential quad exhaust...i asked my friend, but he didn't care enough to remember or notice).

Against posing to be something its not. Unless its in sti, evo, amg I wouldnt badge it as one. In the end its still being fake. If they love the amg model so bad they should save up and buy one instead of putting the badges on their current ride.

At first glance the front bumper is not right, no air openings in the ends. Meh - poseurs everywhere - can't do much other than chuckle and give 'em a little throttle pop if you can

2009 C300 Luxury - Sand Beige
OK, Old thread I know, but I'm going to pose this question for y'all. I have a 2009 C300 Luxury. I just ordered the sport grill, lower gril, fog lamp, and hood ornament as a package deal off Amazon. I got the luxury model because I like the higher smoother ride plus I am a huge fan of the wood grain and, seeing as I was buying used, I couldn't exactly factory order the car if my dreams. Am I somehow a poser for putting the sport package on the front? I know the dealerships do that for buyers who like the look better too. The primary reason I am is the wife doesn't like the stand up 3 point star hood ornament. So what say you. Does this make me a aport poser? IS there such a thing as a sport poser? I am likely to eventually put AMG wheels on it as well cause I like the AMG wheel look better. It will still have all the original badging and everything on it.
So what do you all think? Poser or just making the car uniquely mine?

Adding badges shows clear intent to pass off a car as something it is not. It is as absurd as a dude with a boob job. Fking "Transformers, more than meets the eye" (in the case of AMG posers, "...less than...").
I have seen a couple more C250/350 coupes with the AMG badge in the past week.

Saw a w211 rebadged as an E63 AMG (had 350/550 tips and diffuser) on Rinaldi yesterday.
I just remembered an E46 M3 story. I spotted one in a small used lot while driving down Sepulveda. They had only been out a few months at the time, I pulled over to see if I could work a deal. It was a 318, but had badges, fender vents, M shifter, M stitched seats, etc. The salesman wouldn't listen to me, swore up and down it was an M. They weren't asking "M" pricing, but way too high for a 318.
I guess some are rebadging their cars, others may honestly think it's the real McCoy.

I saw a CLK63 the other day it's license plates were even CLK 063 (Australian plates) However its exhaust tail pipes were a double but only on the left side. Nothing on the right side. I Sware AMG's have 2 dual exhaust pipes one on each side right?
Poser? @_@ Or did old models have only a left double exhaust pipe? I was not sure since it is one thing to pose with fake badges, it is another to buy a license plate LOL

My view on this whole subject is that it cheapens the AMG brand. AMG is an automobile manufacturer, and for those the place a badge on a non-AMG.......well I will just hold my thoughts for now......Posers What truly makes it a AMG is the drive train, suspension, brakes and exhaust, and the famous signature plate.

Will definitely keep C63 owners opinions in mind when I'm changing over to an AMG sports kit in a couple of months. I'd like to know what should I never do in regards to respect for a standard W204 kitted out in some form of AMG things.
No AMG badges = safe ! (In any case, I'm de-badging mine anyway but keeping my C250 tag on). Here, a C63 coupe/sedan costs a ton (USD$256k approx~ ), due to excessive foreign car import taxing + high road tax on high-powered engines like the c63. But here too, plenty of AMG badge posers, and is really an exotic ride if you do find the minority that have the privilege of driving this amazing car.
Saving up for a C63 though is like a dream so far away...
