Maybe they'll come out with another limited run BS with a beefier engine when the next gen C63 is out. A 480-510hp 5.5TT C63 and a 550hp 5.5TT/lighter C63 BS combo in 2015 would be drool worthy!
MB can't keep the base C63 at 451hp as it is rumored that the next Lexus IS-F will have 470hp, and even the next M3 is rumored to have at least 450hp in a ligher car. MB will do everything it can to maintain the HP/straight line advantage over the M3 since I doubt the C63 will be more nimble than the BMW, and I also doubt that they will somehow manage to drop 300-400 lbs in the next C63.

It does look good though.
You can get the same performance though out of a 2009, 10, 11, 12 though. 2009 GTR with a tune, LC4 and midpipe is all day, anytime on the street, no drags needed mid 10 and 0-60 in 2.8's. That is a scary fast street car that will hang with a GT2 on a road course no problem.
There are 2nd hand CBS's that came on the market because the owners were disappointed in the straight line speed. You don't buy a CBS to go fast in a straight line. You buy it because it puts a smile on your face when you rip around in it.

Even on the skid pad though it wasn't that impressive. I dont know... I thought it would be much more of a monster for 130K.
But yea, ask me the same thing 5 years ago when I was a track rat in Solo1 and Solo2, and I'd say the exact same thing as you and probably own a GTR instead.
edit - skidpad #'s, well at least lateral force measurements, I'm able to sustain ~1g with Michelin PSS's, and ~1.3-1.4g's on the Dunlop Sport Maxx Races, so it's not as bad as you make it out to be.

My GTR will rock most cars on the street and it traps over 130 mph which is not saying much. But what I will say is the CBS is the far more rewarding car. The driveability, chasis response, steering, throttle response and exhaust note are excellent straight out of the factory. I didnt learn how to drive from my GTR- It just took away my fears but it doesnt teach. And yes anyone can drive a GTR faster than a C-BS but since I have both I can speak from empirical self data. I like driving the C-BS better. Oh it looks better too.
Money is relative and you or anyone can buy something faster but that doesnt necesarily make it better. I dont care about the numbers- thats what a mag says and I am happier with this car than my GTR. Im not a CBS fanboy cause I have both- oh I said that didnt I

I thought it was better than that on the track. I agree though, the BS will not suffer as much on the track. The Stock C63 weak point is the tranny. Im guessing they have fixed that on the BS with coolers.
You say serious mods on the GTR to make it a track machine and to have the stamina of the BS. What kinda mods? Im sure it will cost nowhere near 30K though matching the price of the BS to keep it on the track as long as you want.
I also agree that the BS looks better than the GTR. Stock for stock the BS exhaust note is also music to my ears. The stock GTR exhaust is not so hot. Mod the GTR exhaust though and it sounds pretty sweet.
If both cars cost the same it might be a tough choice for most who dont have a disposable income. For those who can afford to just point at cars and buy them I can see the allure of the CBS.
