definitely worth every penny....

did the advanced AMG driving academy at Shanghai, China F1 race track.

plus a little bit of telemetry and discussions with the instructors about racing lines etc. some of the instructors even share with you how to tackle some of the bends - brake dive (real racing line) vs instructed racing line etc.

For me, the course fees included airport pickup and drop off in merc vito / viano vans, waldorf astoria shanghai accommodations for 2 nights, daily breakfasts, daily lunches. we did almost 2 days of driving

day 1, arrive at hotel, rest and relax, retire for the night.
day 2, 8am depart hotel, 9am track programme starts, lunch, more driving (telemetry / racing line discussions etc), 5pm end, dinner reception.
day 3, 8am depart hotel, 9am track programme, lunch, more driving, taxi rides with instructors, 4pm programme ends. midnight red eye flight home....

Yes
Yep you need to take the basic course before the advanced course. Basic @ Laguna is in September, but it may be sold out.

It was one of the best driving experiences I've ever had. Such a well run event. You literally get to drive the full AMG line up (sans the BS's) very hard on a track, all day. Plus, you really do learn a great deal about the cars and your driving level. No doubt in my mind, I became a better driver upon leaving. Even if you're a veteran track guy, you'll have a blast. Great group of instructors, participants and fast cars. Don't miss it

I'm planning on attending the advanced course here at PBIR when it comes around.

Good to see another local! I'll be attending the basic course next time it is at PBIR.

He was asking about it being completely paid for, which is only if you buy new or lease new.

Unless of course you make it part of the deal on a used car, in which case I'd rather have more cash back lol.

Do it. Learn some, have a good time, beat on AMGs when you don't have to change the tires.

I have done the whole set through Pro.

Awesome.

Basic at Vegas, Advanced and Pro at Laguna.

I am at my skill limit. Doing a 1:50.00 in a 2011 E63 and a 1:47.2 in an SLS means the driver is the limit. On the other hand, the fastest student lap in a SLS was a 1:47.1.

Yes... I am bragging a bit. The pro took an SLS around in 1:40.xx. Pro drivers in ideal conditions were doing 1:37.xx with a passenger. They are super human.

Find my write ups in the W211 forum.

My thoughts? Cannot wait to do this. Likely early next year.

Hoping they're still offering the $1600 coupon for any new AMG purchase when I finally pick up my C63BSC.
