I’m starting to think not all 08,09,10 m156’s are burdened with bad headbolts! Mine has 154k on it, a 2009, perfect maintenance, oil changed every 5k stock headbolts, and I make 485whp

2009 with 80k. No big problems, but the debate for me currently is am I going to keep the car after May when the extended warranty is up or keep pushing my luck outside of it. Car has been well maintained, just not gonna be able to survive if the head bolt issue happens after the warranty is out or clutch packs go etc etc. Any input? Its really either spend a **** load of money on an extended warranty again or trade it in for something else.

The metallurgy composition is not consistent as you will see some extracted bolts are worse that others. Sure, it's possible you can have 20 "decent" bolts that could take much longer to fail.

true, my SA and technician at mercedes said some people did get lucky and never experienced headbolts issues, as they said the car got a really bad wrap ( good reason as to why imo ) but not all The headbolts where Faulty

not a C63 but i have 152k hard miles. buckets and head bolts updated. cam adjusters probably need replacement in the near future if they haven't already by previous owner. would have to review service records to determine that.

One of the reasons, why some have experienced failed head bolts is because they never change their engine coolant. I’ve owned three AMG’s with the M156 engine, and never had any issues with failed head bolts. I’ve also changed my engine coolant on an accelerated interval. I did finally change out my head bolts on my E63, not due to failure but as preventative maintenance. And after having them done and examining the bucket lifters and head bolts, they were in excellent shape considering their mileage and age. In hindsight knowing what, I know now, I wouldn’t have had them done unless I experienced some issues.

Seriously. You just bought a car that was $65k+ new, you got it used with thousands off, you just got into the car after the car has been out 10+ years... Don’t be a cheap college kid... get the car done somewhere with experience and knowledge using the best techs and tools. Don’t be that guy that has 23 air freshener trees hanging from your rear view mirror and homemade fender flares...

Did you dilute with distilled water ?
Did you actually first drain all coolant out of radiator and block?
