Wife is not very happy

Hey folks. New to the C63 forum. Been a lurker on the C Class and the GLK boards.
Took my '12 GLK350 to the dealer for a state inspection yesterday. While it was in the shop I casually looked at their selection. Came across a '12 C63 AMG with 6,000 miles on it. Took it for a spin and an hour later drove it home.
WOW! is the only descriptive term I can come up with.
Looking forward to many fun miles in this car.
If you can keep your foot out of it, the gas mileage is not much worse than the GLK. Good luck with that.

Now to make my wife happy. Not sure how much that will cost.

my wife bananas! :D
We have the same setup as well. Wife has the glk and I drive the c63. Looking at your sig, did you upgrade from a c300?

When I was shopping around for a car, I spent all of 1 minute debating to get a c350. Then I realized, either go big or go home. Nothing and I mean nothing can one do to a normal w204 to make it like a c63. That cold start in the morning will always put you in a great mood

That's how You should buy a car - no overthinking and considering pros and cons.
You get in, you drive it, love it and buy it.
Cognrats on the purchase !!!

First of all congrats on the new toy. You'll enjoy every moment.

Secondly as regards the MPG, I beg to differ.

If you can keep your foot off the gas in the C63 - you can definitely do the same in the GLK, albeit much easily.

On a recent service trip I took the C63 to the dealer and came back home with a 2012/2013 GLK.

Same weather - almost same distance - same traffic

I tried my best with the C63 and the GLK was casually driven with a couple stops for coffee and small grocery.

C63 - 18.8 mpg @ 58mph

GLK - 31.4 mpg @ 64 mph and 2 stops (Extra city driving)

That's a difference of 13 mpg right there.

Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy.

GL with all of that wife stuff, if she's not happy with you buying the car to begin with then she'll never stop reminding you of that.

100% correct.. everytime I go to buy something.... she points to the driveway.. example, I wanted to replace my 17" Macbook Pro (Late mid 2012 model year) with the new 15" Retina.. she pointed to the driveway and said, your macbook is sitting right there, go drive it

The best I ever got in the GLK was 22.3 and that was highway driving. You are doing well with yours. C63 got 19.6 on the way into work this am.

Yes
Thinking of the GLK as well - vs the Q5 and X1/X3 - what are your thoughts/impressions owning the car, having a C63 as well, and also your considerations of other cars?

Years ago, I owned a couple of Americam-made SUVs. The GLK is the most recent. Absolutely loved the car. Great handling, nice ride and plenty of zip. I never looked at competitors. None of them really excited me. The only reason I traded the GLK was because of my "Hot Rod" mentality. I've had a lot of hot rods (check my Photobucket site) over the years and had a strong hankering to get another.

I would recommend optioning the GLK with the lighting package, HK stereo and the Command set up. Also, the AMG appearance package on the GLK really makes it pop.

Best way to buy a car, don't overthink it.

I think I made the best "mistake" of my life buying this car. Didn't even test drive, never had even been in a C63 before, made some phone calls and the first time I drove one was after I signed on the dotted line.

I don't think I will ever do what I did again in my life, but so far I have zero regrets.

Wait until she turns to Mr. Hermes for a high-end Birkin bag. FYI, Birkin's prices range from USD$9,000 to USD$150,000.

Treat her the way you want to be treated. For most cases, that means keeping her in the loop before large purchases like this. And I'm sure you would like her to do the same for you as well. It should be the same regardless of the household being one or two breadwinners. It's all about respect for each other.

It's not necessarily "American marriage." It's just my "IMHO."

Actually I don't really care to know when she makes a large purchase or what that is.

I assume that 31.4 was from a diesel powered GLK?

I'm sure lots of women sure would love for you to be their husbands when they swipe their black cards for that USD$150K Birkin bag once every few months.
