... My guess is it's a possibility that December 16th, the date MB said they will reveal the specs of the new "C" we might get some more informations (hopefully)
As for the post where I did mention google. There is enough "insider" rumours and AMG leaked info to support the fact that the drive train layout will indeed be AWD with a 4.0TT. If you have a vast majority of publications eluding to or flatout claiming the above, wouldn't it stand to reason that, that is what is coming for the W205?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Now real world driving... AWD and 0-60 FTW!!!!
However, I do seem to remember a very senior M.B. person confirming some time ago that the "new" C63 would NOT be AWD?
Cheers, Pickles.
But I remember a MB executive stating that the "new" C63 would not be in AWD, "because it didn't need to be"?
Time will tell. Pickles.
There will be a clear delineation. You want big power.....you pay $90K+ and get the 5.5TT in the E/CLS/S/S Coupe/GL/G
You want quick agile performer....you pay $60K+ and get the 4.0TT
Everything in this thread is specualtion, except for some of the spy shots
I agree, I don't think they will or risk competing against themselves somewhat. They have to make a clear separation between the two models and engine is one of them.
I was also thinking about the screen, and remember my 2010 C300 having that pop out screen which they put in the dash in my 2012. I have a feeling if they get the thumbs down from the public, they will do the same here. 2nd and 3rd gen of the new model is the one to get. Let them use the first one as a test to figure out what people like and dislike
I doubt it...guaranteed they will release the shots and details early in the year, right after the release of the W205. They're not going to wait a 1.5-2 years to launch the new C63, especially when the new M3/M4 will hit this fall. They haven't staggered AMG launches in a very long time. As soon as the new model is available, the AMG version is right there. I saw the 2014 S63 way before I ever saw an S550 on the road.
I read that as well. It kinda makes sense since Audi is having great results with the 4.0L TT in the S8 and BMW has the 4.4L TT. But it also gives AMG a competitive advantage in terms of displacement. The alternative to a smaller displacement, is a transmission with more gears, that keeps the car lower in the powerband, longer, conserving more fuel. The new E and CLS will be getting a new 9SPD and I'm sure AMG is probably working on a performance variant of an 8SPD
