Fortune Auto 500 Coilovers??
Ok, I'm sick of the noise (clunks) from my H&R coils, and don't think I'm going to be keeping the car for too long, so don't wanna drop 3K on the KW's. Anyone have experience with these:

Never even heard of them till I just googled c63 coilover. hmm

Has anyone ever tracked down the cause of the clunking? James at ACGSD installed mine and I've never had any noise or other issues. My satisfaction quotient with the value to performance ratio is off the charts...if I had to choose between a tune and H&R coilovers I'd take the latter.

I'm experiencing the same clunking problem now. It's only when I drive very slow on paving stones. it's really annoying.
You can try CKS coilovers - some people here have those but no one reviewed their quality.

Yup, I was good for ~18 months, then I got the clunking you mentioned, and it only gets worst from there. I hear it over every small bump, and even incline, at slow speeds ofcourse.

After talking to 10 different people and h&r/ They finally wanted me to uninstall the coilover, send them to them, have them investigate if it's uses errors (if lower than "recommended" height), and go from there. I don't want to do that, bc I don't even want h&r's on my car anymore.

Fortune Auto actually makes some very high quality stuff, they aren't so big with the European marques just yet, but are quite well respected in the Japanese tuner crowd. Definitely worth consideration. I almost bought a set for my S2000 before plumping for KWs. Their website is here, they are made in the US and not China:

^ That's an interesting website...makes me think about letting them take a crack at coilovers for my Z4M. Although they talk repeatedly about assembly and service in NA nowhere do they state where the components are manufactured. No matter, at least they have a track record. And maybe they should lose that "Fortune Auto" name - it does absolutely nothing for their branding IMO.

I would highly recommend KW Coilovers. You can always take them off and recoup some money when you get rid of the car.
Buy once and never have to worry about it again (Until 60k when they need some seal checking/possible rebuilding)

If they clunk, what hasn't anyone bothered to figure out what is making the noise ? The shock shouldn't make any noise during compression and rebound...so that leave the spring. Perhaps it's moved in the seat or is hitting the perch ? I can't imagine ripping out the entire setup instead of fixing the problem.

After speaking to a couple guys at Fortune Auto, and reading tons of reviews (on other cars ofcourse), I'm going to give them a shot. 5 year warranty, with one of their retail shops just down the street from my house, I figured I can't go wrong for $1300. I get them in a couple weeks, they're made to order. I'll keep you guys updated!
