Locking Diff.
One of the other threads reminded me that I have been meaning to ask this for a bit.
About 1 month ago I bought a 2013 C63 that had just shy of 10,000 mies. It has just about every option including the Development Package and the locking diff. I have notice that staring out from a stop, if your are also turning, you can feel a slight wheel hop. I feel this even when not accelerating very hard so it is not wheel slip - I think. I checked the service records and around 3K miles the oil was changed in the diff as required. When I asked the service advisor and described the symptom he said, "they all do that". I was prepared to believe this was just how the locking diff. worked on this car. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yea...mine does this in the dry...the wheel will kinda "chirp" a little...only with ESP OFF or ESP-SPORT though...when ESP is on it's not there..I'm guessing it's the LSD or w/e is in these things spinning both tires at once-ish

I thought that was just cause of the sheer power these cars put to the rear wheels. That and the fact that the wheels are quite low profile and don't have much grip to them when turning.

Hm.... I had not thought about this until you mentioned it. I will have to check but I think the car has been in the standard ESP mode. I just checked the manual and while I live in a snowy area, I do not think I will experiment with the system with ESP Sport of Off. I would think the car with ESP off and a LSD, it would do better than most rear wheel drive cars in the snow given equivalent tires and a very soft touch on the accelerator.
