Shift Question in C, S, S+
So lets say you are in any of these modes - essentially anything but manual mode and you have the accelerator floored, does it ignore your paddle inputs?
I was in 2nd in S+, accelerator to the floor and tried to shift to third (since I had no traction anyway) and it ignored the input, tried it twice and it never shifted, went right to redline, then shifted to third. I think I remember this happening as well in C a few times...?
Just curious, is that normal?
This was in a 14, 507 btw.
Thanks -

Yes it's normal. In C, S, and S+ it will downshift when you floor it and hold it pretty much to redline as long as it's floored. Pulling the upshift paddle woln't do anything in this scenerio.

507 doesn't give a damn about what you want, wants to drink 93 and breath O2!
AMG = ( . Y . )
AMG = ( . Y . )

That is definitely a true statement...a strong pull in second to third and it feels like the car is trying to suck all of the air out of my ears...all the while the *** is shaking like Beyoncé, then you look down and realize you are doing triple digit speeds.

Haha, know exactly where your coming from. Love hearing the car redline, but by the time I make it to third gear I'm already going much faster than I'm comfortable with in traffic

Assuming you do that from a standstill and are flooring it, if you decide to upshift in the middle of 3, to D4, the car is still going to go all the way to redline of 3 then shift to 4.
If you want it to shift when you want how you want, M mode is your friend.

I personally drive around town in C and then use the left paddle to limit it to 2nd or 3rd or 4th as needed...not nearly as performance oriented as M mode, but a great real-world way to drive the car.

The OP question was not related to shift speed. OP was not in M mode. Pulling the upshift paddle in any mode other than M will not cause the car to upshift - unless you were holding it in a lower gear at less than full throttle. In C, S, and S+ when floored the car will rev to the limit and shift just like any automatic - even when its spinning tires.
