Thanks for the encouragement. I wasn't sure about the exhaust gas issue as the cuts would put the end pieces right near the front of the trunk, but I hear ya. In researching noise, it seems like there's a pretty big difference in reported noise from running without mufflers but with a resonator depending on whether or not you run headers or have stock Logs. You are speaking from your experience with headers and race cats right?

Aside from aesthetics at the rear, any reason to spend the money to add new sections of pipe to carry the exhaust back out to diffuser location?
Why don't you just put a pair of e-cutouts there, so you can go back & forth? I did that on my S4 and it was great for added power (noise) during track/dyno days, but kept it civil when farting around town...

I toyed with it. But cut-outs adds cost, complexity, and weight. I need to get to my local exhaust guy and get a quote for just bending some tube and adding new tips. Ideally done with v-bands to quick-ish disconnect or come sale time. Will see what they say.

Fair enough, but cut-outs are pretty cheap these days and have several slick options for actuation (manual switch, manifold pressure, etc.). Mine were alum. and 2-3lbs at most IIRC, which isn't much at all.

Based on my experience (with other cars), I agree with BLKROKT: the fumes can get nauseating at stop lights or during heavy traffic, and TBH, dumps don't necessarily "sound" that good (if that matters to you) except at WOT which is usually only at the track. V-band connections are super nice, but gonna be $$$ too. Just sayin'

Hello all. I installed x-pipe instead of the resonator on my C63. Now the oil temperature rises to 120 degrees when I go. It used to be 105-110. Why can it be?
All exhaust stock. No only second cats.

To be honest though I do like the sound of it still though so not sure what I should do now and if I screwed up or what...I guess I can get it put back and remove the secondary cat as talked about....advice?

I hope I didn't lose power going this route...if that's the case then I am gonna have the resonator put back in....fml
After ALL That....................... You did the wrong thing.... I think you researched so much you made it harder than it needed to be. I am the same way. Enjoying this thread. Do you still have your Car?
