Why do some C63AMG owners try messing with a C6 Z06???

I think some of us need to learn our competition muchbetter, and pick the right fight.

Here is what happened tonight: my wife and I were coming home from dinner, I noticed two cars coming at us a high rate of speed. One was a White M3 E92 coupe with loud exhaust and the other was a black C63AMG coupe, also with a loud exhaust. Upahead I noticed a black C6 Z06 who happened to just enter the hwy.

Here is where things got interesting, the Vette was chilling and seem to be minding his business in the far right lane. We were in the middle lane, the bimmer and themerc decided to get in front of us…the AMG in front of me (next to the vette) ,and the bimmer in the far left lane. Inexplicably, the C63 decided that it was time to test his mighty AMG vs. the Vette. I stayed back, my wife looked at me and said –“don’t even think about it” I said, no worries, I’m too full and besides, I had nothing for the vette, possibly the M3 and the C63 – even though they both sounded modded. We were traveling in our E60 M5 tonight which is not stock either, but I know my limits.

The bimmer guy knew and understood he had no competition against the vette, but the Merc insisted on messing with the Z06 – the vetteguy kept ignoring his invites, he even rolled down his window waving at the guyas to say to just chill and move on. Needless to say, traffic finally opened up, the Merc seemed to have floored it and took off. I think that shenanigan pissed off the vette guy because he went after him, and from I can tell the vette got on that AMG azz faster that I could say Ay caramba four times.

Traffic thickened up a little, but enough to pack themtogether (us included). The far right lane opened up, the vette went over and waited for the C63 to follow, and then I heard him go wide open throttle, theC63 chased – the next thing I know, that Z06 was darn near a quarter mile ahead of the C63…he literally disappeared. My wife looked at me asked me – “why did thatMercedes even tried messing with that vette?” I replied, because he possibly had his chest full of AMG ego and thought he couldmess with one of the fastest production cars from GM.

What is the lesson here brothers and sisters? Know your competition! A Z06 is in another league. If you are a member of this forum Mr. BlackC63 coupe AMG (post face lift) with red calipers…I hope you learned your lesson. Z06’s are torque monsters, are very powerful and light and are really fast. Just in case you didn’t know Mr., in pure stock form, Z06’s are very capable of running mid 11’s at 125mph or more and will do 195mph plus. And if they choose to make the vette a little angrier; all they need is a CAI kit, headers and tuning.

So you're telling me that if you pulled up next to a Lambo Aventador at a stop light, you wouldn't want to pit your C63 against it??? Knowing full well there's no chance in Hell?

It's the natural instinct of car guys; we see something fast, we want to find out how fastm

As for the continued provocation of the Z06, that was actually a stupid thing to do.

Ive actually raced my friends bettr a couple of times those things are FAST, i noticed if we do a 20-30 roll i always win while he tries to get his car to hook lol. All fun and games, not in the same league, sure, but they are fun to race. I for one always try to go for the faster fellas, always feels that much better passing them .

Useless because the Merc got an azz spanking, or because you were hoping the merc got the best of the Z06? Or perhaps because you already know the Z06 is not in our league and should NOT be mess with?

NO dude, I would NOT come up to an Aventador and pick a fight with my C63

Hmmm, who would be the stupid one on this example?

Maybe it's me, but I don't pick fight with faster cars just to see how fast they are...I know how fast they are...no need for me to waste my gas and get spanked in the process IF the guy even decides to accept my advances

If I had an Aventador and a C63 came up to me, I would do what the vette guy initially did and wave that **** telling him to keep on and get lost...I wouldn't have wasted my gas.

the C63 has only 88% of the Z06 displacement yet has 95% of the torque?
wouldn't that make the C63 a 'torque monster' too?

Street racing is stupid.. for once I agree with Ingenieur :P

Also, 3 weeks ago, I did have a douchebag in a blinged out 300 SRT8 with rubber band donk wheels try to goad me into racing.. yeah not going to happen.. especially when I have my 2 year old strapped into his seat in the back of my car (no tinted windows, seat sits high, impossible not to see the kid in it)...
What ******* challenges a person with a toddler in their car.. talk about a WTF moment.

Ive done hwy pulls with my friend Bobby's C6 Z06 -It was a lot closer than you wouldve thought and at times I got the jump. I think you're more stupid for taking the time to write out a pointless post.

Yep, street racing is dump, but it happens.

People will continue to street race...I don't support this practice, but what can you do.

the cars have similar power
Z06 505 HP vs 451, 481, 507, etc.
and torque
Z06 470 lb ft vs 440-450 range

the Z06 weighs 500 lbs less

stupid to compare the 2, one is a 2 seat sports car, the other a 5 passenger HiPo luxury sedan

All I was trying to do is: to be a little public service that is all

Again, why was my message (post) stupid? Because the C63 got a whoppin'?

Oh snap, I just realized something...we may have the "Fan-Boy" avalanche coming

Meh, Z06s from a roll are very fast but I wouldn't be too worried beside one at a stoplight. Those cars are damn hard to drive especially out of the hole and half the Vette owners have no clue. A good Vette driver deserves everyone's respect, even the newer ones.

I have driven my friend's Z06 and ZR1, they are both incredible machines.

not sure the vette could pull out 1/4 mile or 1320' in a few seconds though
it's 0.6-0.7 sec faster in the 1/4, that is only 100' to 120' or so

Nice story, but the whole delivery was total vette fanboy. Painting this pretentious picture of the vette and acting like we should know better than to ever breathe in its direction.

I dont have anything against a Vette, I think they are great and probably would get one if an American 2-seater was higher in my list.

I do think this post is useless though, unless the goal was to have it end up on the vette forum.

AMEN!!!

Now here is a guy who knows what is up - Kuddos Coladin

You are right, behind the right pilot, ALL being equal, a Z06 is capable of running away from a C63 at a stop light, track, hwy - you name it.

that is not true
if the cars are driven acording to traffic laws they will end up at the same point at the same time

it sounds like you are trying to justify buying a vette
if so, you know they are lessor vehicles even though they may be 'faster'
faster is not the absolute qualifyer for a road car
