Weird Metallic Sound from Exhaust

Weird Metallic Sound from Exhaust
So as the title describes I have this sound.
Best way to describe it:
-Usually happens when under significant (50% plus) throttle. I typically hear it in second gear.
-Usually only happens once per drive. As in if I start my drive and it happens, it usually wont happen again during that drive.
-Sounds like something is rattling around in the exhaust. Makes the exhaust and the car sound really cheap and like its about to fall apart.
-Started happening after I loaded up the Eurocharged V5 tune. Can't say its because of the tune, but considering the very first time I heard it was getting on the freeway onramp after I got the tune loaded and was under WOT in second gear.
The sound and feeling is like the car is spitting something out that was metallic. I will try to get a recording, unfortunately as I stated above it only happens about once per drive, and I never know when it will happen, but its definitely noticeable. Only way to get it filmed is if I can get my hands on a go pro and have it constantly filming.

I don't know what to tell you, I started hearing a funky noise after I got my big fin diffuser installed as well. Sounds like it comes from the back and only at very low speeds when I am going slow enough to hear it. So when reversing slowly or turning around etc. And sounds like plastic clapping against each other sort of....or even something of a clicking noise.
There's no way I am gonna be able to figure out what it is so just learning to ignore it I guess.

did you guys use the oem brackets, or bolts? if bolts, it could be the diffuser moving around on them. go back there and see if the diffuser moves around in the center. move it up and down gently and see if it rattles.

I had a shop custom fabricate a bracket. I have no idea what sort of bracket he made but that could very well be it I guess. Perhaps when I get a chance I will have him look at it. I am trying to acquire a diff cf diffuser as I don't like how this one fits so perhaps that would be a good time even though it will be a while before I get a difference piece.

Nothing to do with diffuser for me, I have a stock diffuser.
I guess the sound description would be like what a car would sound like clearing it's throat? Except instead of phlegm is metal pieces? I can't find a better way to describe it so I'll do my best to get a video or audio capture but that will be difficult.

Cracked or broken internal muffler baffle? Once it heats up it expands and that's why you don't hear it once car is warm....not positive but a possibility

I noticed the same thing after loading my v5 tune for the first drive out. I mentioned it to the Eurocharged guys but they did not care to comment back. I hope it's not pinging.

I too have this sound occasionally, and i notice it only when under WOT in tunnel, or next to a concrete divider or wall.
I believe it to be pinging, and i only hear it echoing off a wall. It a kinda metalicy (sp?) sound. Like what your describing.
How can one KNOW if their car pings?

Hey all, no I did not figure out the issue, and it still happens. A little less loud now but very noticeable.
Again only happens on WOT but unlike you AMG893 it doesn't need an echo, its clearly there.

So I have the same exact issue immediately after installing EC software. I do worry about it but gave up after my search did not yield any answers about a year ago. I'm glad the op brought it up because count me in...

I am thinking of ref lashing back to stock to test sometime soon too. The EC tune was especially requested for 91 octane california gas for me, so I expect it to not ping, but I am afraid that is what I hear.

Pinging is NOT good. You need to for sure determine what the sound is. I would try to replicate the sound again. Try to drive by a concrete barrier and listen for it. Then flash your tune back to stock and try again.
IME pinging can sound as if someone is taking a tiny ball peen hammer and tapping on the exhaust. You do not need to be WOT to get pinging it can happen in lower RPM also.

Some news:
Just got back from a midnight drive. Empty streets in my area so it's jus me. Confirmed metallic sound. As mentioned above it is always happening in second gear. As far as I can tell it is not happening in first. Also it happens between 4-5000 rpm everytime as well.
I am going to test first gear some more but so far it seems like it's something that happens only in second gear. I will try to test 3rd as well.
Lastly, it seems like it's an exhaust thing. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the engine to me and it's sounds like something is rattling around in the exhaust. Only problem with that theory is that the testing shows it consistently happening in 2nd gear at 4-5000 rpm.
That being said I think I am going to reflash the car to stock tomorrow if I have time and see if it's still happening. If it is then I'm going to the dealer. If it isn't then it's definitely tune related and I'll be contacting Eurocharged
