C63 AMG with X-Pipe and Secondary Cat Delete

I'm currently debating between removing the secondary cats and adding an X-Pipe or removing the resonator and adding straight pipes. I'm located in Toronto. Just wondering if anyone has either of these 2 setups and is willing to meet up.

Thanks guys!

I'm no where near you but can tell you it's going to smooth the sound out and take away that AMG grunt.

What kind of change to the exhaust will make it louder and keep the AMG bark?

Chris,

You will find a lot of mixed reviews in regards to X piping or straight piping your secondary cats.

Its a matter of preference, but I feel if you straight pipe your secondary cats + deleting your resonator the car sounds more exotic. Gurgles and pops, accelerator run offs sound beautiful.

The x pipe generally tames the sound a bit, some may like it this way. However, It doesn't do the car justice IMHO.

Either option will not have drone, so its really up to you.

I'm replacing my secondary and resonators with straight pipes. I want something that's loud and grabs attention! Plus I heard when you drive normal it's not too bad.

Go through this thread. A lot of helpful info and sound clips/videos of C63's and the sound various set ups produce.

When I first did just the Xpipe...

The car lost it's AMG growl. It's quieter and smoother sounding. I didn't like this at all.

Once I deleted the resonator it came back with even more bite!

No drone whatsoever.

I deleted the secondary cat with straight pipe and replaced resonator with an H-Pipe. Lots of bark. Lots of popping/backfires.

I thought X-Pipe's weren't the way to go with the 6.2L? Even my exhaust guy said he'd done some E63's with X-pipes and had them eventually return and replace the X with an H.

I'm from Ontario too. (Sault Ste. Marie). I live in Dallas, Tx. now.
The 1st day I bought my E63 I had the secondary cats and resonator deleted.. There's nothing like the throaty growl that 6.3L naturally aspirated engine lets out when you give it a little room to breath.. The nice part about it is that it idles normally and can hardly tell you don't have completely stock exhaust while driving around with out pressing it very much...BUT, once you let her rip,..... it sounds like a grizzly bear fighting a lion in an all out death match under the hood.. Highly recommend tossing the resonator for a straight pipe..

I have commented on this topic for quite some time now. Probably 50+ threads... I wish that this website would be setup so you have to watch your clip before you can even type x-pipe or resonator.

Some people think that losing the AMG bark means the car gets quieter. Not the case. The car will get a new sound, yes. Some will love it, some will hate it.

Its impossible to say something is right or wrong when that something is based on personal preferences.

Great video rsquad. Just what people need to hear.

I am very confused??!!

my current setup is only 2 tubes through my mid pipe section.
But i want more sound.
So i have do add an X or H pipe ?instead of the secondary cats?! Right?

For example: i must have an H-pipe in front instead of the sd-cats and behind straight pipes instead of the mid-pipe ?!
