Better to get your local garage to open up and gut your secondary cats, sound great and looks std.

What is your reasoning for gutting the secondaries instead of cutting them off and running an X pipe?

In the uk you will fail your yearly test if you fit a x pipe, Unless I am mistaken you lot from the colony's have strict
" don't pull the cats " laws, My way its cheap, sounds good and looks totally std and will pass any inspection, not only that you don't have to cut your std system and have It rewelded when you sell or trade the car in, Not only that Merc MAY get upset and void you warranty if you Fit a x pipe, my way they don't know. simples!

Good thing I live in the US haha my area isnt too bad with the emissions. As long as i have 1 set of cats I'll be ok. I plan on doing the resonator delete also. If i do that id like to do an x pipe also

Iwould do the secondary's first and see what you think, you may not want it too loud.

Definitely do one of the deletes first and see how you like it. I was like you and was planning to do both, and realized the resonator delete was loud enough. I've seen all kinds of set-ups, and straight piping both the secondary and resonator is ridiculously loud. To a point where its almost obnoxious. The x-pipe in the secondary is not as bad, but it is still much, much louder.

Gutting a cat will do nothing for performance.

Burns stainless will make u an x pipe but you need to supply some dimensions.

Any good exhaust shop should be able to make an x pipe from two U pipes.

This is what is on mine....reso delete, xpipe, rear muffler delete and to me it sounds amazing.....

Now keep in mind the xpipe quiets the system down a LOT!!!!!! Ive got sound clips posted in other threads

This is the thread with xpipe sound clip....
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w204/561425-non-32-461-exhaust-setup-c63.html

Think about it this way, in the factory reso the pulses just kinda brush up against each other, whereas with the xpipe you are forcing them to collide head on which cant help BUT cancel out some sound.....and actually the reso delete, xpipe install felt like it COST me a little low end torque but I feel I got it back when the mufflers came off.

X Pipe

I think my shop used a Magna Flow Xpipe with resonator delete and I did second cat delete also and put an Hpipe also. Sounds amazing! In fact I hear aftermarket exhaust systems on here for 3k and laugh mine was $60 bucks for Hpipe custom made in stainless and Xpipe and all piping in stainless for another $100 and my car sounds just as good if not better. In fact not as loud as only header alone but louder than BS exhaust for $3000.00 just and FYI All work was great, welds were great. Search for a good exhaust or hot rod shop to do this for you!

I had done one before the other at another time and still wanted it louder. When I went back I told them just to leave Hpipe where the cats where and add the Xpipe and delete the resonator.

I meant the Xpipe doesn't really quiet anything down.

The xpipe in mine literally cut the exhaust volume in half

What was your setup when they put the Xpipe in? Did you hear straight pipes no mufflers then Xpipe no mufflers?

I was stock and deleted reso only w/ straight pipe...pretty loud

Added xpipe in place of straight pipe....sounded like a Prius

Deleted mufflers.....perfect tone and volume for me
