Stain on the inside of headlight directly across from xenon bulb???

Stain on the inside of headlight directly across from xenon bulb???
Hey guys, so recently I washed my car and noticed a slight stain/mark on the inside of the headlight, the area right where the xenon bulb shines through. It's not condensation but more of a "stain" if you will. It's kind of odd how that came about, anyone have any idea how this could happen? It seems like only one side has it... Any input would be appreciated, thanks

Mine has the same on both headlights. I just figured it was some kind of "burn" from the light. I am also positive that it is not condensation.

Oh ok so maybe it's a normal thing..? Yea "burn" is more like it lol. Oh well, I dont want to open up the headlight to clean it so I guess just let it be.

Same here.
Only way to remove it is to open headlights. I did it on my ML63 because it was annoying me.

Will end up doing it to C63 when i taken bar off for repaint

Same here, normal but not that noticeable unless u look for it staring sideways at the headlights.

Still in warranty? MB has a document on that concern. It's a burn mark from bi-xenon heat. Document also refers to condensation build-up.

can you please post this?



its' heat from the xenon bulb. they get pretty hot.

i wouldn't open up a headlight over that, though. if not sealed back correctly, it will leak

It is a V shape that can only be seen when the light are on. I had mine replaced by the dealer under warranty at the tune of $2500. a piece. The new ones do the same thing. I think it is on the projector and not the lens.

haha, so MB simply replaced your lights because of it? that's awesome to hear.

it's simply the intensity of the xenon bulb burning the plastic housing of the light. nothing more, nothing less

it only burns in because of dirt on the outside allowing the heat to concentrate and build up on it. If you keep your headlights clean this wont happen.
