UPDATED: In need of a Brake rebuild/rotors/brake upgrade?
As you may or may not have seen, I have worked with RacingBrake to define a brake upgrade kit, that achieves the following criteria:
1. Increased brake heat resistance, not only, but especially, under high load (track)
2. Longer rotor and pad life (every day, but especially during tracking, where stock pads are wearing very rapidly when hot)
3. No cross-drilled but slotted rotors to eliminate cracks forming around the holes
The concept we are coming out is:
1. Increased brake size to Black Series dimension
2. Rotors that are harder than stock with compatible pads
3. Front brake calipers are retained (with adapter). Rear calipers will be from Black Series.
Overall cost ca 4,200$ incl. rotors, pads, rear calipers from Black Series, steel brake lines and brake fluid.
THIS SETUP DOES NOT EXIST YET IN THE MARKET AND WILL BE PRODUCED IF WE FIND MIN 3 BUYERS. WHO IS INTERESTED TO JOIN THIS GROUP BUY?
I don't track the car, but for the rotor, you are looking at slotted only correct? I like the fact that this is keeping (or trying) the stock caliper up front. I do attend a lot of car shows and typically, I have done BBK upgrades on most of my cars even if I don't go to the track, mostly for the improved braking performance and looks.
what about those of us that switch to stock 18s for the winter? I don't think this will work correct?
Yes, the setup will be exactly like the Black Series with OEM calipers front and back, but RacingBrake 'open slot' rotors. Also the rear is two-piece design (vs Black Series one piece design). That setup fits 19 inch wheels.
If you want to switch to 18 inch winter tires, which I also will do, you will need to swap out the front rotor and caliper adapter back to stock when changing wheels (about 15 min additional work per wheel, no need to open the brake circuit or bleed the brakes; it is plug and play). The rear can stay the same in winter as in summer.
I have some good news - I talked to RacingBrake and they lowered the threshold to get this started to 3 buyers. They are so convinced of their product that they believe we will rave about it so much after testing it that others will then jump in. That's the spirit! :-)
So: who else wants to benefit from this and get the start-up discount?

Thank you for your continuing interest and inspiration.
In order to gain the delivery leadtime, we have released the parts production and can confirm the shipment shall be no later than July for pre-orders placed before June 15.

Since track goers are highly sensitive to the benefit of rotor weight saving, so the weight comparison info on the development thread is being re-posted here:

12 lbs per front rotor
6 lbs per rear rotor
Total 28 lbs per 4 corners, and they will definitely perform better and last longer than original BS set up for they are RB two piece rotors
As this set up is more towards to tracking, so we opted to use a lighter rotor rings (390x34) for the front, replacing BS's 390x36.
This will shed another 2.5 lbs per rotor for the front, or at 25.5 lbs per rotora total of 11 lbs reduction from OE's 360x36 one piece. This is what we like to see for track application (also better for street)
How about the heat capacity with such a weight reduction - We see no problem at all, more than adequate in fact. As our rotor metallurgy is more resistant to cracking and warping due to high temperature, also our center mount design can pump more air through the discs and keep them cooler than traditional surface mount two piece rotors.
This confidence is supported by our supplying similar rotor sizes to those heavily tracked super muscle cars (500 HP+), like GT-R, Corvette ZR1, Camaro ZL1, Mustang GT500 etc.
Also due to our patented center mount design, change of disc thickness will not affect the offset, so you still have a choice to go with 36mm disc if you feel more comfortable with that.
This super light weight "track duty" rotor is fully compatible with OE Black Series caliper.

I look at this as a small optimization - an option actually, because the rotor-ring can be swapped back and forth from 36 or 34 mm with everything else the same (even the rotor hat/center). Is that right?
And is there a cost impact (saving) from going to 34 mm?
Following illustration explains the unique feature of RB center mount design and answers to why our offset remains the same when the disc thickness is changed to 34 from 36mm because the total disc thickness is symmetrical to the rotor center.
Unlike conventional two piece the hat is mount to outer surface of disc, so the offset moves along with the disc thickness change.
With RB two piece both left and right are using the identical disc - Uni-Directional, whilst the conventional surface mount two piece; left and right are directional (different disc)

In other motorsports communities it's not a small optimization at all.
Both discs use the same hat.
Saving is on consumers in unsprung "weight", lap time, gas wear and tear on maintenance, and shipping charge on order. For mfgr it actually costs more due to more machine time from the same casting, but we will keep same price.
Sorry, I had no intention to minimalize the importance of the change. However I wanted to clarify to everybody that this change will not affect the calipers, the rotors, brake pads or adapters. It will only affect the front rotor ring.
Wow!!! $4200 for the kit? That's a great deal. I'm not a track person and I may jump on that. That seems to be cheaper than the front disk brake job if done through the dealership and you get all 4 corners done.
Are the rear rotors the same material as the fronts? I believe you or RB mentioned a daily driver version of this kit, using different brake pads. Is that correct?
This is indeed the best value for money I could find anywhere. And totally right - this is a great setup also for street driving - you can dial in the brake properties you want by selecting from one of 6 or 7 different pad compounds - from low temp street to hard core track only. It would be easy to use one set of pads for every day, and insert track oriented pads for a track day.
The rotors are all the same construction - full 2 piece rotor design, where the external ring alone can be replaced, while keeping the center part (the hat). That reduces long-term cost of ownership.
Sorry that my title was misleading - this is not just for track use - it is a better brake setup overall!
I am not sure everybody understood that the pre-order offer includes another 10% discount vs the order sheet (link below), plus free shipping. In other words, you get a full RacingBrake upgrade to Black Series size brakes for your C63 (pre or post facelift, and with or without PP), including 4 2 piece rotors, 2 OEM BS rear brake calipers, pads, steel brake lines, adapters, etc, for under 4,000$, shipped!
It also includes 2 sets of brand new Black Series Red calipers, and Stainless steel brake lines, and complete car set of RB's no squeak, low dust performance street pads...
This complete brake upgrade is not just for track people, it also an excellent replacement if your C63 is due for a brake job.
Upgrade it to BS large brakes at the same time. Can anyone argue with the fantastic valve of this kit - Every single component is an upgrade to OE while costs only fraction of a dealers' brake job.
As soon as we start shipping the kit, the pre-order deal will be closed.

How soon will you start shipping the kits? I need to see my pads and rotors and measure how much is left in them.
Also, what will the regular price be once this pre-order offer is done?

I'm about to pull the trigger on this, but I'd like for a more aggressive pad to come with my kit if possible. My car is not a DD. I drive it for fun, and to and from track events. I don't care at all about noise or dust. Can you recommend a TRACK pad that happens to be streetable? Prior to this going live, I was considering Endless ME20 or the Carbotech XP10. I used to run Pagid Yellows on my 996TT, and didn't mind the street characteristics one bit. I care about stopping without fade, smearing, or excessive wear, that's all.
Also please advise of the price difference if any, and how I should place my order with this adjustment - on the website or via email.
Many thanks, and I'm looking forward to placing my order!
I am going with the XT910, since my car is a daily driver with occasional track days. You may want to go with the XT960 for your use pattern maybe......
Should I find that the XT910 start to smear under track conditions, I'll go to swap pads between every day and track use. But I'll give the XT910s a shot first.
If you test the XT960s first, we can compare notes.
