Spark Plugs
Going in for my dyno tune in two weeks at Brentuning. Was told if I wanted to squeeze a little more power out of the car I should invest into 1 step colder plugs. Anyone recommend who to purchase them from. If you can post a link to the plugs also it would be very helpful so I can make sure I get the right ones

Colder range plugs are for if you continually beat on the car for long periods of time.
Save your money as city driving may foul these "colder" plugs and cause other issues like O2 sensor fouling.

Asked him about this today, told me I shouldn't see any issues with daily driving the car back and forth from home and work. I'm also pretty new to the car still so I havnt found any stories on here of where colder plugs messed with their cars.

He said it will reduce "pinging".
If you run the car hard like tracking or 24 hours at Lemans then sure try colder plugs.
But in my opinion you are throwing money out the window.
But in that vein I would not allow some tuner to mess with my car to increase performance, what I have is all I need as AMG has tuned it for.
Dyno tuning is just a number, putting the power you have now onto the pavement is where your thought should be.
Pinging is usually related to poor quality fuel or timing issues, with todays knock sensors and computer controlled timing pinging is rare.

With that being said its fine that you like your own car tuned how it did out the factory. For me, the factory tune isn't enough power. Plus I have no clue what your saying about putting the power to the ground, it's not just a number. It's going to throw that new found power to the ground. Jumping from the stock 350rwhp to 450rwhp is a nigh and day difference .
As they say in "Street Outlaws" , spinning aint winning.
With that said, I would not mind more power as it can be put down on the top end and can be used to drive around cars if you smoke the start....

I think he is saying that unless your tires can actually manage the extra power, you will just do burn outs. I have a hard enough time not spinning my PSS when I floor the car that I imagine more power will just make this issue worse.

Yes I also run PSS and yes the car will smoke the tires at will, yes if you cannot put the power to the ground without spinning then all is lost.
Have had my car for many years, my first wish would be for a LSD, here in Canada 140km (3rd gear) is called Stunt Driving, take my car for a week and give me a big fine and increase my insurance premium after I get out of the local jail.
Kpela, enjoy the car, be satisfied you have a great fast comfortable sedan. One of the guys has a supercharger from Weistec for sale, power ON

62-65, better buy new coil packs also, they will soon burn out with this large gap.
Kpela, from some of your answers you know little about the car other the the pedal on the right makes noise.
I hope I am wrong, this is an expensive car to learn mechanics on.
Besides the plugs mentioned are for supercharger applications where boost is apparent and used.

If I knew what I was talking about I wouldn't have made this thread asking. ive had the car for under 2 months now but this car is no more expensive to learn mechanics on then any other car I have owned. So yes you are very wrong. Regardless I mentioned that I seen somewhere else that they should be gapped at a different point then you mentioned. I didn't say you didn't know what your talking about, just that I've personally seen other info stated on these forums about it .

With increased gap, more power is needed to fire the spark and the coils will possibly have reduced life expectancy. I have not had the advantage to own numerous high end cars such as your self apparently. But I would be very hesitant to pay some tuner to extract more power at the expense of reliability and drivability. Read the many forums of owners suffering disappointment after a tune. Although some companies such as those who develop and research power gains are more to my liking. Starts with W*****c

This whole thing got off topic of the purpose of the thread . The purpose was to inform me about colder plugs and if they had any benefit. And as the tuner vs company thing goes. I personally am choosing to go to a tuner rather then order a tune. I get a vender price from velos who I was going to go with before I decided to choose brentuning . That being because the man himself has a c63 tuned to 517rwhp which I believe just won best all motor car at its last event. He did a car with colder plugs awhile back and it gained a good amount of power. My sponsor shop Aci dynamix also told me that the car will run great with colder plugs and a tune. If car was stock then he said you could see a issue.

Got the colder plugs installed this past week, car runs strong but at times you can feel like it skips at idle. My velos tune is coming in this week though so hopefully the tune fixes my issue.
