TORN!! 2010 C63 with P31 or E63
Sorry im sure this has been discussed multiple times but im new to this forum and not sure how to dig up all the old threads.
Im about a day away from getting a 2010 C63 with P31, LSD, and every other option and 60,000 miles. I absolutely love this car but am starting to get a little "pre" buyers remose because im starting to see 2010 E63s for similar prices.
Just wanted to get the general opinion on what people think.
Honestly I like the look and interior of the E63 over the C63 but feel like the C63 would be more fun to drive. Im a young married guy with no kids.
what do you guys think?

Hello dreilly, I made the switch about 2-3 months ago from a 2010 E63 to a 2014 C63 507. I already miss the interior and overall better build quality of the E. Also the size of the vehicle. I don't know your personality and what type of vehicles you've driven in the past, but I have always been a D, E segment sedan type of guy. I feel cramped in the C and I'm having a hard time getting used to it. My plans were to upgrade into the face lift W212 in another year but I saw this vehicle and decided to try out the iconic engine in the C class where I've always heard it really performs at its best. It's a fun car, but I think overall I would like to eventually go back to an E class. I would recommend you find an E to test drive and sit in for a while to make your decision.
I hope this bit of info helps and good luck with your decision. Can't really go wrong with either, just the subtle things that you might miss out on.

That's great advice. Thank you! How have your maintenance cost been comparatively?

Now, if all you want is a weekend monster, bang for the buck get the C.

This makes you wonder why either the E63 seems to NOT hold its value or why the C63 seems to hold its value very well.
I remember seeing similar prices in the used market for roughly equivalent C63 and E63 and scratched my head.

Not sure about maintenance as I haven't taken the C in yet. I am expecting that it'll be about the same for the most part.
One more thing to point out is that I think the C has a smaller gas tank. There may be a little less fuel usage but I think my fill-ups are a little more frequent now.

if we were talkin about the bi-turbo E i dont think there would even be a question IMO
but 2010 to 2010 it all comes down to your wants and needs.
If you want more luxury the E is the way to go , if you want a little smaller and sportier then the C fits the bill.
one big question to ask yourself too, will any adult sized humans ever be sitting in the back? if yes...E

Being the owner of a 2014 507 I am hoping you are right about the values of the C63. However, recent sales posted her indicate otherwise. A 2014 507 with 6KM on it and every option, putting it at $94K MSRP, had an asking price of $59K USD. OUCH!

Here's a 2011 e63 with only 20k going for under 40k. A similar c63 would be in that price range.

Point I am making is that an E63 and C63 costing the same for similar year cars is the interesting fact. Considering an E63 costs $20-30k more than a C63 new, and is quite a lot more car.
And anyone who pays $94k for a c-class no matter how good it is, is stepping way out on a limb. That's just silly, but maybe its just me.

I am not surprised by a 2014 507 taking such a hit on depreciation. The initial 1-2 year depreciation bite is the harshest. And if you paid $94k for a c-class, you should expect that.

whats even more interesting is how close the new c63 and the e63 are in price now....if i were buying new i'd just say screw it and spend a little more on the E

Nice to see the new E63 finally get a more aggressive grille. That tame luxury grille is what really turned me off looks-wise.

2010 c63 (p31) w/LSD
The e is a softer suspension, more luxurious car with room for 4-5 adults and more "normal" seats. The c is a more sporty, firmer riding car with sportier seats and less room and less perceived quality. Pricing is fairly similar but it comes down to what is more important for you. I love the e class also but for me the c was a better choice as it is more sports car where the e was more luxo-sport.

My previous Benz was a 2008 E63, Mercedes bought it back after two lifters repairs. After the E63, I jumped brand and purhcased an M5 and love it! As time passed, my itch for the Benz came back and stumbled into a clean used 2009 C63 and decided to pull the plug on it.
The C63 has been fun thus far, but like my previous E63 and current M5, the C63 seems to lack the build quality of its [E63] bigger brother and the M5.
To sum it up - if you want luxo with power, DO NOT buy the C63. To me, the C63 is more like in its prime Mike Tyson wearing only boxing shorts & boxing gloves, while the E63 is like Mike Tyson wearing a tuxedo, cleaned up ready for a nice evening dinner. Makes sense?

If you want the better overall driving experience and more fun, get the C63. If you want more luxury/comfort but still want that punch, get the E63 (keeping in mind both are the 6.2L and not the 5.5L TT engine in the newer E63).
