Looking to purchase a c63 but have an important question

Hey guys im new to this forum and looking at purchasing a nice 2008 c63 amg with 51k miles. Clean carfax but after signing up to this forum I noticed the dreaded head bolt issue. Are all 08-10 c63s plagued with these
Issues? Were some of these not plagued with the head bolt problems? Id really like to purchase the car but after seeing how expensive the head bolt service is 18,000$ I just dont want to get involved with all that. Thanks in advance for the answers guys...great site with tons of info.

I waited 8 months to find one that had the updated headbolts installed along with the rear main seal. IMO it was worth the wait since if I bought one with the female head bolts I would be watching for the death light(coolant light) to pop on. While looking I was amazzedd at the percentage of C63's for sale and even certified at dealers with the coolant light on tryimg to be hidden by the steering wheel.

Even I'm starting to get salty with this.

MODS: Why are you still refusing to create a sticky for this basic information? Copy and paste PurpleHeart's post word for word and sticky it - done...

How did you know it had the updated studs in the motor? Did you have them check for it when you had a PPI done? Let us know thanks.

On a really boring weekend I'll make a full blown FAQ thread because this is getting ridiculous.

Sorry OP - but do a search.

If you buy a PFL get a warranty. Or, ask the bank to finance an additional $3k on the car and swap the headbolts when you get it.

All cars, all brands have their specific problems. And all have solutions. If you really like this car, give her a good mechanic check, and buy it. It is an excellent car. Not all models have the same problem. I own a 2009 C63 running like hell.

Covered under warranty, but it has been a 9 month fight with two dealerships and MBNA. Finally got someone from the AMG/North America office to be my champion.

Car was in shop so long the plates expired! The good is that everything has been replaced and the car runs strong at 50K miles

So you were out of warranty and they covered it?

70k and running.
I give normal use and also goes to track days or occasionally drag race.
If you ask in the forum BMW, the M3 have their issues. Like the GTR. and the same for the Corvette or Porsche.

Do not worry. Dare
