I'll tack a related question onto this:

My wear indicators are squealing bad, but there still looks to be 'enough' pad left and they're not dangerously low yet. When does the wear sensor usually get tripped compared to the indicator tab squeaking?

S550 on order
my "cheak brake pads" has been going off for like 3,000 KM (getting the pads replaced this week) but I bought replacements from racing brake for around $500 bucks..front and back

When the sensor does go off, approx how much wear do i have left?

5,000km ago I was told I had 20% left on my fronts and 40% left on my rears....so far no sensor signs have shown up

Thanks in advance....
Just check the thickness of your pads regularly.

Are you sure the squealing is due to the indicator or just your brakes squealing for not being at temperature?

If your tracking your car or need aggressive pads for a reason there are pads for that available. If you want good quality low dust pads and would rather go have a nice dinner buy these. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...FYKQHwod9HgM8Q

They take about 10-20 min to change out including removing the wheels. Super simple.

Or if you think you can't mentally be ok with $50 brake pads that do the same work you can always just buy OEM for $230 and the sensor for $10.

Well, I guess not, but it sure sounds like the high pitched squeak of the indicator tab. I guess I can get in there and bend it back and find out. I've never had squeaky brakes before, so I honestly don't know what it sounds like compared to the indicator. I understand some say these brakes can be normally squeaky.

My brakes squeel all day long because I rarely can get them up to temperature in traffic. When I give the brakes a visual check, it looks like there is tons of pad left. These brakes just make a lot of noise.

Racingbrake's ET500 is the most welcome performance street compound for C63/E63 and other MB models:

Please refer to this review and learn how ET500 keep this SL550 owner so happy.

Racing Brake makes me happy:

ET500 will deliver an excellent braking power and modulation, very low dust and no squeak braking that you are looking for or your money back.

Both our front and rear pads equipped with wear sensor locator, just swap the sensors from the used pads - Very easy to install.

The sensor needs to be replaced every time the pads are?

Theoretically you can pry the sensor out of the old pad and reuse it. Practically - many times they crumble when you try to get them out and need to be discarded/replaced.

A new sensor is about 15$ at the dealership and about 11 $ mailorder.
