Hey guys I am looking to purchase one of these. Not in a rush so I can wait for someone to be selling thier car or parting out. I am ready to buy one but I cannot see paying near $700 for a catch can with shipping. Let me know if you are selling one. Best, Eddy

How are you going to make the below part to fit a universal?

The PCV not a "standard" connection.

I had the same thought myself before purchasing the Weistec kit. There really isn't a standard barbed fitting anywhere on the M156 to plumb a traditional catch can in. You could hack up vacuum hoses in different places trying to accomplish what the Weistec does, but kit works perfectly in best location to scavenge the most amount of aerated oil directly before it can enter the manifold. The Weistec kit, albeit spendy, works incredibly well and provides a very professional, functional and factory looking installation. Additionally, as several members have pointed out, Weistec has been a pioneer in developing upgrades for our platform; where possible we should all try to support them.

I have always been a HUGE believer in supporting companies that work on any platform car I have owned. The problem I have is that this is a catch can. I am not cheap by any means but cmon $700 shipped for a catch can? Thats really crazy. I mean they could have priced this thing at $400-450 and it probably would have sold double if not more. Its a LOT of money for what it truly is. I love Weistec and all their stuff it just is not easy to pay that much money for what that is meanwhile they sell entire pulley kit for half that?

Well supply /demand! Plus they put a lot of R&D in their design. You have to admit this is nice functional piece.
Is it $700 now? I paid 549 shipped during a sale event. Reactivate a group buy or wait for black friday's pricing

When you physically hold a Weistec Catch can, it feels very robust, the engineering is on point. As many members have already stated. The M156 shouldn't go without one. Im sure if some of you approach Weistec for a group buy, they will reactivate the deal.

Just received mine yesterday
$651.00 with shipping. Not cheap, but the equipment looks/feels top grade and if it is engineered specifically for our motors, I'm a fan.

their ROW and filters prices seem inflated and wouldn't buy, but I don't struggle too badly with this item as it should pay for itself over time with the increased health of our motors.

We'll see how the install goes this weekend.

The only part designed for out motors is the Plug ends... A catch can is a catch can, its not exactly rocket sience

If it were so easy, and the market supported it, there would be a multitude of $100 solutions already don't you think? I have not seen any DIY catch cans for these cars, because the fittings are unique.

for the money, it's worth it, I mean look @ the carbonio air boxes, pretty much useless but they were charging / probably still do 2-3k USD for it and tons of people bought them including me, and they don't even do any sort of protection against the build up the catch can collects..although i think if you're in a warmer climate you should be fine without one, just do the Italian tune up every week

Thats exactly it the unique fittings and ease of installation is what you're paying for but really a $4-500 markup for fittings that's bonkers... Not blaming Weistec though as anything you buy for these cars is crazy markup... Which is what Avery is suggesting I believe

Simply economies of scale, there aren't many manufacturers who tune MB/AMG's. Lack of competition and even less market demand = higher prices.

Not justifying the cost of the product, as I feel its expensive as well, knowing a generic catch can are $100 dollars. But the thing works well and is engineered with exacting specs. I cant knock engineering quality on Weistecs part.

I bought mine during the group buy. I can't remember the group price, but I don't seem to remember whether I thought it was expensive or not.

Group buy was $400 + shipping in June 2014. Price at the time was $529.99.

The custom work is the connectors that allow easy fitment and I have no issue paying a fair price for them. The same catch can and connectors is sold by Wesitec for a wide range of MB vehicles so it is not a unique C63 product.

If you think paying US$629.99 is steep try adding on the ludicrous US$256.21 they want to ship a can to Australia - total cost of just under US$900.00! For that type of money I will investigate a little further making my own solution with a quality generic catch can.

^ This. With the current exchange rates, that's almost $1K CAD... which will easily get you a set of custom, machined aluminum fittings. For that kind of money, I've had custom one-off parts fabricated from titanium by a local machine shop for my P-cars.

Furthermore, there is a much cheaper (and easier) solution... you can just cut the hose on the existing PCV valve assembly and connect any well-designed catch can there, before the PCV valve itself. Seeing as they're both in series it will operate exactly the same, with the added benefit of less oil getting to the PCV valve itself. No need for custom-made fittings - just cut the corrugated hose on the PCV and connect it there. You'll need a couple of couplers, a couple of clamps and some hose in addition to the catch can, but it's easily doable for a quarter of the price of the Weistec solution.

And, the "Italian" tune-up works very well on the M156 - just one track day (i.e. two tanks of gas at, say, 50% WOT) will completely clean the intake to the point where there's no oil residue left after six months of winter (grandma) driving in Canada. For those driving the car on the road 100% of the time, a catch can is a great investment, but if you regularly exercise the motor, the catch can is a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.

$400US Back in 2012 as well.

When the CDNUS was almost on par.

651US would be 880CAD now

See, $400 makes a ton of sense they would probably sell MANY more at that price. I would have not thought twice and thats expensive for a CC but $400 worth it.

I would tend to agree $400 is the point where it's expensive but not worth trying to replicate
