Previous C63 Owners: What Did You Get Next?

I was recently considering getting a facelifted C63 (either coupe or sedan...didn't really matter) to replace my 2008 C63. I absolutely love the car so it didn't even occur to me to think about getting something else.

Then, I eventually figured I might as well consider all my options before committing to the same car again

Price range is about $65k or under preferably used. I'll do my own homework and inspect a car fully before purchasing.

I just haven't been able to think of anything I think I'd love as much as the c63. It performs great. Puts out awesome numbers for the price. Sounds awesome and is always a joy to drive. I've only thought of maybe getting a w205 c63 once they depreciate a little more or maybe finding a 2011+ maserati granturismo. Any other sugguestions? What did you guys move on to and what was the rationale?

E90 M3.

I like my Sport Sedans, didn't want anything as big as an E-Class or 5-Series.

Never owned an //M car, and just bought a house, so, didn't want to splurge on the new F80.

Got a CPO'd 14' E63S out the door a couple months ago for just under $70k. While I do miss a bit of the fun factor that came with both my c63's, the E is where it's at especially in the new body. Comfortable, smooth, and fast.

It is a big sedan though and will never share the same exhaust notes, but the exhaust is still phenomenal.

This is not so much a "what did I", but "what would I"...agree with Purple that the next step for me would probably be the new E 63 s in a couple years when I can find a nice CPO. The other thought would be to add to the stable with an older, low mile, full size AMG. Came real close to pulling the trigger on a 2003 CL 55 with less than 7000 miles.....asking price was $26k. I'm also attracted to the 6.2 L CL and S63, should a nice, low mile example of one of those come around

Then I woke up and realized I had my son's college tuition to pay next month.

Surprisingly, it makes for a great daily driver and mother of God it makes some angry noises. I've only had one trip where I could have used more space, but if you do not put the top down, there is a wonderful amount of space behind the seats where the top folds down onto itself. The two issues there are (1) that you can't drive with the roof down, and (2) the item being placed in that area must fit between the seats and the roof when it is in the up position.

2013 C63 Coupe
Lately I've been even considering a project car. Porsche 997.2 or Cayman. I like the idea of Maserati GT 4.2 like the OP, but going for that wouldn't be a project car. Looking at M3 E92's too. Even on limited budget, there are a lot of cars that I like (want) so the nice thing is I'm in no hurry. The cars mentioned so far are ones I like have have considered...most likely I'm in for a 997.

Not a previous owner, but when my wife starts working after she graduates next year I have had my eye on the C63s. Really like the interior and the fact it comes turbo'd. I dont have @durranic money

Man even a used Turbo S that's 5years old is gonna cost close to 100k. I just can't justify that kind of money for something almost/is out of original warranty

i liked the fact that, for the money, the c63 put out arguably better numbers than a lot more expensive cars. the car came detuned from mercedes so a simple tune really opened it up a lot. i don't know if i'll get the same bang for the buck elsewhere. might check out an e63s...also wondering if i'd be happy with a 2011ish sl63. i always thought they were beautiful, but maybe a bit small for a 6'2 guy.

^Yeah, you want to talk about bang for the buck? Granted, tunes are more expensive on the M157, but the gains on the 5.5TT are MUCH greater than the c63 platform.

As of late, my train of thought has been get into the newest year car you can.

At 6'2'', the E would be super comfortable for you. But again, there are just so many cars out there right now that are pretty good, especially at that $65k-ish budget.

I traded for a 991.1 Carrera S. The PDK is light years ahead of the C63 MCT. I know, it's apples vs oranges, and I think the C63 is an amazing sedan. Wish I could afford both!

I'll probably be going back to a 997 Turbo.
I miss that car every day.

Yeah, the Turbo S's are *not* cheap, but neither is continuing to toss mods as a 2012 C class...

911 GT3. It handles better and is quicker than the 911 Turbo, as it is noticeably lighter. It points really well at turn in, huge brakes, and gives great feedback at the limit. The naturally aspirated motor is terrifically responsive, has a great growl, and more than fun. Importantly, it has nearly the insanity of the C63.

It technically doesn't handle better due to the factory using GT tires and not R compound tires. The GT3 uses softer tires.
it's faster around many tracks than the GT3. It's absolutely not quicker. Both turn in really well and have great brakes. The GT3 advantage is price, weight and NA.

So after I said that about the Turbo S being expensive I actually looked at what it offers. TBH for the price it's not too bad. Enough to get me thinking about one.

one of the best quotes from the article:

"The third owner will buy a Hellcat ten years from now. He will be under 30 years old. He’ll look for one with high miles, or a rebuilt title. And he’ll drive the thing like a cocaine fiend playing Mario Kart.
