C63 X-Pipe/Resonator Delete Question
Hello MB World,
I am picking up a 2009 C63 very soon and want to turn up the volume a little bit on the exhaust. Is there anything I can do that bolts on to the stock exhaust without hacking up or cutting anything? X Pipe with secondary cat delete and stock resonator or removing resonator only? I really like how the car sounds from the factory, wouldn't mind it having that AMG grunt and being a little louder
Thanks

Nothing bolts right up except LTHs with mids. You need to make one cut to replace the secondary cats and the same for the resonator.

i cut off my secondary cats (Keep them youll thank me later) it sounds so good. I did notice little loss of torque but Eurocharge tune fixes that. Its worth it i paid $150 dollars to do so. straight pipe it you'll love it.

Wait so secondary cat delete is a net performance loss? Every other thread I read said it was a gain.

I recently cut off my secondary cats as well and man oh man what a big difference sound wise. Second best mod I've done to the car right after a Eurocharged tune.
I paid a cool $100 to get it done (got a great deal)

If you live in California you might want to rethink cutting your 2nd cats. If you dont live in a strict emissions state, cut off the 2nd cats. If you still need more loud, cut the resonators as well. I live in California and dont want to deal with putting the 2nd cats back on every 2 years for the emissions testing. Going in for a resonator delete for straightpipes tomorrow.

We just had a conversation about this, a few days ago. Putting state regulations aside, if you like the "AMG grunt," then removing the resonators wouldn't be the best option. By removing the resonators, you would essentially be removing the components that are responsible for giving the signature tone. I'll see if I can link that thread later... A lot of useful information went around in that conversation. Removing the 2nd cats, will raise the volume of the tone you already have.
Also, if you're concerned about a bolt-on option, I'd have to agree with what others have done. $100 at an exhaust shop would do wonders. There's no need to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars for essentially, a straight metal pipe... $100 and and hour or two at and exhaust shop would be my advice lol

I have a family member who owns a star smog station and he does all my smog checks. I wouldn't want to jeopardize his business in anyway. Also I know that removing the 2nd cats makes the car stupid loud, don't want to bother the neighbors. I know that cutting out the resonator changes the sound, making it more "raw/raspy". Heard both good and bad things from other threads. Hoping I like it as well.

I wouldnt say that at all. I dont think my neighbours have any idea I have done mine. Rolling about town its really quite the same. Its just when you open it up that it lets out a little more 'angry'.

When I meant neighbors, I meant my downstairs tenants who just had a baby. My cold starts in the garage with stock exhaust already rumble the house
