Ok boys about to drop off headers for ceramic coating!
I found a local factory that will do it for me and the ceramic they used is cerakote? I didn't do much research on it but my shop recommend cerakote also.
I think they said they would do it for 150 bucks including blasting the headers to get it to stick good.

I had the headers and pipes ceramic coated on my kawasaki zx14 about 5 years ago and it was a great investment. That amount of heat that is retained within the pipe is huge.
I would certaininly do it again it I decide to buy headers for this car

Good call, Skratch. in hindsight, i wish i had mine properly coated too.
Is it possible to log the EGT from your current set up and then compare to when you're fitted with the headers?
I like your x-pipe man. Makes me wish they sold off the shelf ones with that exact design. Nearly every x-pipe i see on the market (as in, non M156-specific) is better suited to rubbish old chevvy 5.7l motors.

So it's all bolt on for my setup.i will try to log temps but I'm not sure they will change much from the coating.

Good purchase....it's a good design. All of the proper/good ones (MBH, Weistec) are very straight like that with the joining intersection.
Yeah I wonder if the temps will rise. They 'should' really. The whole point of the ceramic coating is to retain the heat which speeds up exhaust flow (and power should be slightly better as a result) and then of course lowers engine bay temps.

It's not that loud guys with the x pipe the stink is more a concern for me though.
The but Dyno says I lost alot of throttle response and crispness and power everywhere.
I'm letting it adapt but I'm working all day so I can't drive it around.
PS the China catted bungs work fine with no check engine light so far

Guys I had a huge issue with the ceramic shop and pulled my headers out of there.
Long story short they wanted to put a thin coating that was made to vent heat and when I told them I needed a different paint made for headers they said they need to order it and don't have ovens setup to run the v series cerakote.
Huge waste of my time and booked shop time to get them installed so I skipped doing the ceramic

Not sure if you meant to quote me, but fwiw, I honestly don’t have the technical knowledge to answer accurately.
Now, that said, I can imagine keeping heat in the exhaust system vs losing it in the engine bay could play a part in keeping oil temp lower. BUT again, that’s just my limited knowledge.

Dang! I hate crap like this! Well, if I can find a good shop in SoCal LA area to do the coating on mine, I will report back.

The stink is out of control on my car, i cant even roll with the windows down unless i want to smell like fuel, oil and possibly coolant (headbolt pun). Every time i goose it, black smoke blows out of the exhaust, all that.
Hopefully your header file really wakes the car up, before i got my retune for headers i still felt a night and day diff with the headers (before unicorn tune)
Keep us posted

Regarding the stink...it's spooky that some members have it and others don't. Mine doesn't...I can even stand behind the car and do stuff without choking etc. I think the smell is related to the charcoal canister being tired perhaps

I have the x pipe to stock resonator to c63 mufflers and its loud but some of these guys on the post exaggerate a little too much LOL or have never had or heard a really loud car. When on throttle at night it is loud lol, every time i goose it at night I'm always looking around after i let off
