First track day-problem traction control ? Help
First track night a few weeks ago. Awesome. 2nd session coming out of a corner I got on the gas too early and too hard and the rear swung wide. I was able to ease out fishtailing a bit. But for the rest of the session throttle response was near zilch. ( same thing happened auto x ing last year ). Has this ever happened to anyone ? Shutting off and re-starting corrected everything.
input appreciated greatly, hoping to do a TT in a few weeks.
2012 C 63, Eurocharge tune otherwise dead stock.
THANKS !

If you overheat the car it will go in limp mode until you turn off the car. Did you notice your Oil Temps when that happened?
Even when turning off TC, its still a tad there I find. If you want full control, go in Dyno-mode but be cautious, you wont have ABS.

Don’t use “Dyno Mode” on track. That’s just an irresponsible thing to tell someone to do after their first track day.
To this day I keep mine in “Sport”. I honestly have not seen better lap times with it completely off, and I’m running some pretty serious lap times. It doesn’t interfere now that I have obscene amounts of traction, but it does step in to save me when I do dumb things. Losing maybe <1sec a lap is worth it to me if it saves me even once going off track or into a wall. The goal for me anyway is to have fun and get home in one piece, not set world record lap times.
Back to the question, I’ve experienced what you describe but not for a long time. I think when the TC sees an extreme condition, it dials everything back and goes into some sort of safe mode until it thinks things are normal again. I don’t have any other evidence to back that up. Maybe it’s in conjunction with oil and trans temp. I don’t know.

After some reading I suspected oil temp shut down. But in both instances throttle response went to zilch ( actually dangerous with cars following accustomed to my normal pace ) till end of session after getting squirrley out of a turn. Ist time was cool weather auto cross so I think I can rule out oil temp. As a newbie I agree with the safety of running in sport but the dilemma of basically losing the remainder of the session even in a modest drift sucks. As you know the rear end wants to waggle exiting a corner and neither instance was that wild. I'm driving fairly conservative right now so I lean toward just switching it off. ( not sure I know how ). Another option could be to drop down, switch the car on & off and re-enter.

OP -- what mode are you driving in? That is still unclear. Sounds like you're just triggering limp mode.

OP - Did you get any dash alerts when this happened? I had similar symptoms that ended up being related to the throttle position sensor - a little wheel spin out of a fast corner on the track resulted in a pretty dead-feeling gas pedal. I got a couple dash alerts when this happened.

Running sport & sport handeling. Oil temp would be the prime suspect, but the first occasion was after fishtailing out of a corner at autocross. It was a cool day, 7, 1 min sessions with 10+ min between runs. Switched off the car while waiting. On track day didn't notice any dash warnings but will pay closer attention. Another reason I suspect traction control, I can switch off the car and restart and it's back to normal.
