OEM Wheels Gloss Bronze Powder Coat

Decided to Powdercoat my OEM wheels which will become my winter set. Pretty happy with the outcome, but time will tell once I mount them in December. Very pleased with the price too (110/wheel, plus a 15% fall sale). Less than $400 with tax, out the door.

Work was done by Static Coatings in Clifton, NJ

I'm assuming that included stripping them right down as part of the prep work?

Yes sir. Blasted down to bare metal and prepped for coating. Color looks bolder in person, but is still in the darker range of bronze which is what I was looking for.

I was considering the same thing for my oems as well. Dark bronze. Looks good! I'm still undecided yet for mine.

I was considering doing a practice version to get an idea by using Plasti dip as a primer and then bronze wheel paint over it, so then (maybe?) I could peel it off. That way I could see what to expect IRL.

Thanks! I read that painting over plastidip ruins its ability to peel, so watch out for that. Plastidip might have a bronze topcoat that would work our better for you. Check dipyourcar.com. I considered going that route, but I wanted the durability of powdercoating. I had dip and blue metalizer on my previous car, and it did well for a few years until I had to replace the tires. They got a little torn up on the outer edge of the wheel.

That's a reasonable price. Thinking of doing my winters as well.

Are you keeping the center caps silver or going with a different color?

Nice! I like the color. What is the exact color called. Do you have a color code for it? Is it a prismatic coatings color? Thanks. Let’s see some pics of them on your car.

Nice price, the place near me is $205 a wheel and $50 extra for specialty colors (like hyper silver) - wish I could get something done for $100

Center caps will be changed to a black background MB logo. It'll be a while before they go on, as I will be putting on a set of Blizzak WS80s for the winter.

Unfortunately I don't know the name of the actual color as I just picked it out from a showroom sample. It was the darkest metallic bronze they had though.

That color wheel should look stunning against a Lunar Blue car. Can't wait to see pix. Are we going to have to wait until you get snowed on?

That's what I'm hoping for! When picking a color, I was on the fence with a bronze or titanium finish. Although I do really like dark gray, I had that color on my previous car as well as my 370Z, so I wanted to try something different. It should still hide the northeast winter grime well enough.

Will hopefully get these on before the first snow, but I have to wait for the temp to drop, or I'll burn through the tires real quick. I'll definitely add pics to this thread when I get them on. For now, I just did 2 coats of ceramic wheel coating to help with winter cleaning.

Finally had an opportunity to mount the wheels this weekend. Here's some pics right after the install. So far, I think they look great, although the recommended 235 rear looks way too small. I think I'll go to summer sized 255s in the back once these wear out.
