Transmission oil change for nearly $700

Hello,

I received a quote from an indy shop for Transmission Oil Change to be completed on my 2014 C63 amg. The shop quoted me $686 (Part for nearly 400 dollars and 2.5 hrs of labor). I have researched through threads and this seems absurdly high. What do you all think?

Thank you for your time

Wow go to the dealer and save some money, no one usually says that but they are expensive at 500 for the same job.

Did they itemize the parts to see what is in that $400? Parts are 50 bucks for filter seal plugs and bolts, oil is 50-125 depending on brand and if you need red or blue. I would expect more like 300-400 from an Indy give or take.

Thank you for the reply. I was going to call the dealer next week to see their quote. I am going to shop around definitely. They did not itemize the the parts (I should've asked for it). I thought I was not understanding transmission fluid change correctly after looking at the estimate.

Here is the DIY kit US pricing $145 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...-moly-7229late

If you want genuine Merc Blue Oil it is $4 more per liter, so would be $165 for parts. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...d-001989780309

Every other "B" Service (the big service B I think they call it) every 4 years or 40k miles.

What did you guys use to pump the fluid in?

I used the MV6410 and still made a mess with their adapter

I use this and it is not great, it tends to blow off the hose if you pump thick oil and don't go super slow, also hard to hold all the hoses at the same time and pump (did it on the weekend doing 75w-90 on my sons diff change.

Might spend more money next time or get something like this that screws on the bottle

Seems about what the stealership charges in my area. I was quoted just under $800 on both my MB's. The local Indy's quoted $400-475.

Just had this done and it costed me around ~$450 (tax included). A tip I learned from my Mercedes Indy shop was that there is an inner bolt to the converter that will allow you to drain additional fluid out. If you want all of your old fluid out, you will need to align so you can get to this bolt. Some dealership will skip this step as it will take more time and customer will not know about it.

I had that done on our GLK and the shop was going to skip draining the torque converter for the quoted price. I requested the converter be drained and they charged me extra. This only applies to the PFL cars with the torque converter and not the MCT.

The average cost should be somewhere around $450, as I had my E63 done last year, that included draining the torque converter, new filter, gaskets, fluids and bolts.

Just got my transmission fluid changed. The indy shop charged me $444 + tax. Seems to be the going rate for AMG transmission services.

I did mine, using the STAR to monitor the transmission fluid temperature during refill.
Next time, I may try to take it further, once the pan and filter are out, you're close to removing the conductor plate and being able to clean the solenoids.

I did mine myself... as for the pump... I took a garden spayer and pressurized it with 5 psi and watched the fluid go in. Bought the mignty pump adapter and hose on Amazon. I used Icarsoft scanner to measure temp. Took me like 2 hours to complete the job.
