2016 C63 or 2013
OPT 1: Privately owned 2016 C63 with 49.3k miles, FL car. The paint looks like hell with scratches and blemishes plus one dent that can probably be resolved by a mobile dent guy. The interior is evident that the car hasn't been given TLC at all, but not damage except the finish peeling from the center console trim in one spot that should be warrantied. It was a rental for the first 22k miles. Nothing on Carfax, but there is evident poor paintwork. I brought it to get inspected by a MB tech friend and the turbo IC seems to be leaking. He picked it up since the computer read indicated low fluid and then visually confirmed. The seller is bringing it to MB dealer to see what it is exactly and if it is covered under warranty and to also get 2 recalls taken care of for software update and injectors. Negotiated price is $31.5k assuming the leak is resolved.
OPT2: Used MB dealer who has been around for 40 years with a 2013 C63 coupe with 34k miles, FL car. The car looks brand new inside and out. The asking price is $34.9k pre negotiation, but I know these guys do not flex much from previous negotiations. They let me walk away over $2k on a $45k asking price for a 2012 CLS 63.
*both cars are black which I can't have living off a dirt road. I will wrap either one in satin metallic grey so the paint imperfections are not extremely relevant in regards to my satisfaction in appearance. It would effect resale, but I do not expect the car to have much residual value after I add 100k miles to it.
What would you do?

- Buy the w204 if you want a badass exhaust note. It's much louder and sounds much better
- Buy the w205 if you wanna be faster and enjoy newer tech.
Personally, with 40k budget, Id get the w204. You can get a nice low mileage, full spec w204 for 40k USD. If I had more money, i'd definitely get the w205. With downpipe and tune, those cars are insanely fast. And the coupe version looks great.

Highway cruising, i get 20-21mpg. City driving is like 14-15. Heavy, stop and go traffic can be less than that.
If you have your heart set on a 2016 or later C63 then wait for a better example to show up and pay the extra - the pay back will likely be a saving in future costs compared to the current example your looking at.
However, if your only two vehicle options are the ones listed above, I would go with the w204 since it will be more reliable than a budget w205 IMO.

I am going to look at this C63 tomorrow listed for $39k at 40k miles and supposedly clean from a reputable exotic dealer. ~.75/mile depreciation.
