What format do you need it in, i.e., what tool are you using for read/write?

HPTuners .hpt file or a universal binary .bin file would be the most common I'd say.

I'm also very interested in seeing a stock 507 file for comparison's sake, preferably .hpt but .bin would do.

You can flash ECU firmware with hp tuners? I'm not talking about the tune,I mean the whole ECU like if you go to the dealer and they update the ECU over your tune.

You can do an "write entire" function through HPT, change the OS, etc, if available. Not sure on the MB pcm as I haven't tried but HPT has the functions.

Would be nice if you could but it's very complicated to do even with Mercedes engineering hardware.

You need fully unlocked offline programing and the ability to match new vins and make the ECU marry the rest of the car.

Honestly I might just go to the dealer and tell them I want the latest firmware for a p31 as mine is 4 revisions old.

How do you know it's 4 revisions old? I was thinking about getting an ECU and TCU update too.

I miss being in the BMW world where the dealer updated all 31 modules in the car for $99.

I pulled the info off vidiamo and the tuner said it's not the best firmware for my car.

Nice. Yeah I'd love to get the MB software but the cost of even clone Xentry VCI or SD Connect C5 is pretty prohibitive. All I needed on the BMW F series was a $15 ENET cable and the BMW ISTA+ software is available for free!

I kinda want a way to check my ECU and TCU software versions before taking it to the dealer to update because to be honest, I don't even trust them to actually do it.

Said doesn't give out those files and would need to ship to Germany. The dealer said they will call me but that was last week.

Yes - HPTuners write includes the full ECU firmware. If a dealer updates the ECU, often an existing modified tune will not be compatible (depending on the system they use) its easy to re-read the updated stock ECU and copy over all the changes from your existing tune using the compare feature in the editor.
