The metal clips only come with the cover Mercedes does not sell or list those clips separate and will sell the whole cover to you. Best to take a clip and get something close at the auto parts store or have the mercedes parts guy see if he can find something close - I found some close ones at the dealer and used a few of them. Also get a flashlight and look for them, they usually just unclip and fall down on top of the engine and you can usually find some of them just laying around.

I did try these, still have a bunch - they are a little short, so they don't clip quite as well as the stock ones, they are better than nothing though.

Not true, I purchased several of them two weeks ago from MB of Arlington, VA. They had to special order them, and they cost me like $3.00 each, plus tax.

That certainly looks right, if it is, you are the first person in 12 years of people trying to find a clip that matches, dealer says they don't exist and have to order the whole cover, parts fiche doesn't list them for the cover, so this may make you a genius!
I bought Chinese ones from eBay, a small bag, was fairly cheap and they're still fine.
I agree that the Parts software does not list them separately on the W204, but I'm sure that this is not the first time Mercedes is using these and on a different model they must sell them by the each.
These metal clips are used on every model AMG that has the M156 engine, and possibly on other models as well. I know for a fact that the M156 engine was manufactured from 2007-2012, so these clips are readily available. So if a dealership tells you that you much order the entire engine cover walk away, and find another dealership. Because I know for a fact that you can buy these from the dealerships. Use the part # that I previously provided. 😁

These are the ones that I used on my M156 engine cover. And they work great too, much cheaper than buying them form the dealership. I forget what the dealership charges, but they charge you for each one and not a pack of them. So buying from eBay or Amazon makes logical sense.

Your Ebay link points to this guy, https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...89-78&_sacat=0
my question is this the price for one or a package? and how many in the package ? I was asking charles cause he seemed to have bought a package of 6 so I wanted to see if it's the same from ebay?

Well you can always contact the seller on eBay and ask them.
If you have missing engine cover clips, it’s likely they are all the same for all MB with this style of clip. MB does sell them but as a body part (rocker clips). It makes sense since they don’t have to tool up special clips. It’s just that the dealers’ parts system is not broken down to the level 2 component part level, so someone has to dig out the part number, and the dealer can’t order it.
A 011 988 89 78 “Clamp”.
Price range: US$1.75 to US$5.69 each.

SL65 AMG carbon fiber cover
MB Clamp (Body Molding)
I bought that part number a few years ago and the clips are not the same as come on the engine cover they are a bit short and a bit wider and don't work as well, the one I have as I was missing one falls off every time you remove the cover, they work but they are not the exact clip.
