C63 vs C350 differences?

Hi guys,

Maybe you can help me clear up a few points. I really don't understand the major difference between a c63 and a c350. I know that a difference is the engine, but otherwise, are there any other real differences? Both use the same chassis (family sedan car), and perhaps the c63 has stiffer suspension, but that can be easily upgraded in a c350. Just trying to understand the additional cost of the c63 over the c350.

Engine
Brakes
Suspension
Driveline
ECU programming
Certain body parts (wider front fenders, hood, bumpers, ground effects and spoilers, etc)

A better question would have been what’s the same. That list is shorter. Chassis, interior, most of the body panels.

Yes, but the chassis is most of the car. You can easily modify the other points (suspension, brakes, drivetrain like rear end, ecu) to be that of a c63 in a c350 for much cheaper than upgrading to c63.

None of the things you mentioned are cheap if you actually do them right, and in the end it'll still just be a V6. By the time you do all that, you'd have been better off just getting a C63 that would still blow a modded c350 away.

yes that’s a great idea ! And no quitting just because your costs have exceeded what buying a c63 would have cost!

That is not true... The most important thing in the car is the weight balance. Both c350 and c63 have the engine out in front, far from the center of mass. The c63 is even heavier than the c350 due to the large engine.

Yeah, you are probably right:

Brake kit: $4k
Suspension: $2-4k
Engine: Airflow/exhaust mods, too much forced air for long-term internals to make it long, and a tune sufficient to give you an extra 150 crank hp: $8-10k

Best-case scenario, you have a car with less torque, a much shorter peak HP curve, and have blown 12-15k on mods in a car that still won't outrun a C63 in any scenario, and you can only romp a few times before you are buying new car...

It's hard to fight displacement.

I’m sure I’m missing dozens of others things. If you want to go that route, go ahead, but expect to pay easily over $15,000 to mod your 350 into a 63. In the end, you still won’t have an AMG.

Pretty much everything is different. You will never make your c350 faster then or be a c63. Go drive a c350 and then right after go drive a c63. The differences will be obvious. Get a c63 and be done trust me. You won’t be disappointed. You will be disappointed after dropping thousands on modifying your c350 and in the end it doesn’t do any one thing better then what a c63 can do.

Hey guys... I think the OP is on to something. Let him mod the C350 to be a C63. Definitely gonna stand with OP on this one. After all, its just the engine, brakes, suspension, etc. No biggie, right?

Couldn't agree more. Don't listen to any of these dipshis doubting you.

Most, if not all, have never turned a wrench...

I'll be gutting my C63 soon for a race car project. Hit me up if you need some interior bits on the cheap!

It looks a lot easier on paper than it actually is. Unless you're willing to spend a ton of time on all of these "easy" steps...probably just trade for a c63

The weight difference is pretty negligible... 439lbs for the m156 vs 391lbs for the m272.... that 48 lbs difference you won’t notice...much if any. Plus the wider track and better geometry on the front suspension on the c63 would more than offset it in general handling characteristics.

The big difference is your C350 sucks and my C63 does not.

Sounds like OP is trying to prove the old "its nothing but a bigger engine" in a small car. Front suspension is completely different. I believe the 63 has wider front track.

Hum.... everything including the leather is nicer. Let’s be honest the C63 motor is worth more than C350.

Drive the one you will see and feel the difference.

They are both entry level models from Mercedes. If anything, your c63 is in the same boat.

Not sure if this is an exaggeration or if you actually believe this. How can an engine be worth more than a car + engine? If anything, the frame of the car is worth more.
