H-pipe to keep the AMG sound, X-pipe makes it sound like a 5.0 Mustang. Secondary cat delete will open it up a bit too.

Xpipe the secondaries and Xpipe the resonator.

Replace the secondary cats with an H-pipe. Eurocharged or OE tuning for your tune. Done.

I like straight piped 2nd cats and stock back boxes, add long tubes with the 2nd cat and stock muffler and res and it sounds godly

OP, just decide for yourself. There's lots of comparison videos/threads --> https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...vs-h-pipe.html.

You can either go with the trend or make your own to suit you own taste.

Quote: Why?
just like G_Money already commented.
Because the H pipe keeps the signature AMG grunt/bark alive.
Just like in this video:

Straight and X gives it a s..tty mustang like fart.

Thats why.
Let me guess you have a mustang fart setup.

He compared H to X not straight.

Is this the mustang fart sound you're referring to? I don't hear it.

You can hear it on the estate video you posted earlier.

But if you think that it sounds better with an X pipe that’s fine. I just prefer an H pipe.
I actually removed an X pipe on my car which was installed be the previous owner with the factory resonator and it sound a lot better to me.

AMG/ Eisenmann designed the resonator with an H pipe in it. If the resonator is removed it’s just normal that an X pipe would change it and an H pipe would stay closer to the intended sound.

I have zero experience with X pipe. I am commenting on Straight vs H for secondary cats.

Have you heard them both (H vs Straight) in person or are you just going on youtube videos? I have straight and a friend of mine has H. The straight is louder, a little more raw, backfires on decel etc.

That's cool but I'm just talking about Straight vs H in place of the secondary cats. OEM secondary cats are straight and the resonator is an H. Replacing just the secondary cats with straight pipes retains the AMG signature sound.

H-Pipe vid, it's nearly identical as straight.

I wanted to try 2 h pipes in the system also. I have a Mike's power pipe and would switch with someone that has a Mike's h pipe.

I know the 4.0 c63 has 2 h pipes in the exhaust system.

I enjoy the straight pipes setup for catless/res delete. No drone whatsoever. Kept mufflers. The mufflers (not the resonator) are what give the AMG bark hence why our c63 mufflers are very sought after.

Yes as a replacement for the resonator not for the secondary.

That is what OP tried to get an opinion on was the resonator.

If it comes to secondary delete. I would go with a straight as well but for the resonator I would stay with an H setup not X nor straight.

ya I’ve heard them both and have a straight pipe setup. I prefer straight pipe all the way back to stock mufflers from stock headers, including resonator. That was my opinion given to OP.

He considers buying a capristo h pipe.
They only make resonator replacements and not secondary cat replacements.
