Hi all, I have always loved this forum even before I had purchased my car I would always be stuck looking and reading about my now owned dream car.. I am blessed to be able to own such an amazing piece of art! This leads me to my questions and also has me seeking advice!
So, the very first thing I did when I purchased my car was get a flash tune from HD Tuning on a Fathers day sale which I had thought was a good price, but have been told for what I got it should've been even cheaper, but I digress... I have always loved and hated it for a few reasons..
It is super fun when you are getting on it and in manual mode.. but everyday driving it sucks ***. Comfort and Sport mode are horrid, and in the everyday Socal traffic is rough, the car always seems to be in a higher gear than it should be, so every acceleration from my car vibrates and struggles to move its ***.. I either end up down shifting on my own in both modes, or having to mash the gas for it to get into what I would think is the proper gear for the speed(though I am no expert). Has anyone else experienced the car being extra jerky when letting off throttle after getting your car tuned? I requested an aggressive tune with pops and bangs yada yada to be "that guy" and someone mentioned it could be the way its tuned which is why it drives so horribly when I'm not driving like a maniac.
Flash forward to now; I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase long tubes for my car recently and plan on getting it retuned.. The shop I go to uses RaceIQ, I have seen quite a few posts about the company in the AMG community, but I haven't spoken to anyone who personally runs the tune to get any feedback.
Really do not want to have the same type of drivability after the new tune, hoping to hear some of your experiences if you have recently used RaceIQ, and/or any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
By no means am I bad mouthing my current Tuner(atleast not trying too), they gave me exactly what I asked for so and as I said before I do LOVE it at times, but it also leaves me with questions.
@Kameron562 , feel free to take a look at those review threads and ask any questions. if you'd like to reach out to me feel free to message me on instagram @eightysixtuned
you'd be surprised, but 80% of people who contact me ask, as the first thing, "how much power does it make". my response is, it'll make good power, but i focus on drivability and power production everywhere at all throttle angles, with reliability, repeatability, and response. when they hear that they end up spending their money elsewhere.
its hard to convey the fact that one drives at full throttle less than 1% of the time, but yet all some care about are dyno numbers. can't be mad at someone for knowing what they want when the service i offer isn't for them. i'm not here to push something onto someone that they don't want.

You asked for an overpriced tune that runs like crap? That's a first. Dont be afraid to call it like it is --- you have a bad tune.
These cars have been around for over 10 years now, nobody is reinventing the wheel, and there is no excuse for what your car is doing.
Black Friday is coming up. Just take advantage of upcoming Eurocharged deals, get an obd tuner, and get ready to be mad at yourself for tolerating what is on your car now.
If you add headers eventually it should just be a few bucks to get a headers file from EC and again just be done with it. You dont need a shop to tune your car and if there are hiccups you can just email with EC, send logs, iron out the wrinkles, and be done with it. It's seriously not complicated and if an idiot like myself can do it you can too.
Idk why you love a tune that has your car sputtering and falling on its face. Who hurt you? Haha
fyi, retunes for bolt ons are included as part of my service at no additional charge.
I wouldn't hesitate to have hachiroku tune your car either. The bottom line here is what is on your car, OP, is a bad tune, and the sooner you get something else on it the better. You're just going to be mad because you're going to retain the reasons you love your tune and ditch all the reasons you hate it then kick yourself for not acting sooner.

LOL, truth is this is the first real vehicle that I have had that has any sort of performance factor and just wanted to be loud and obnoxious lol.
I liked it because I ignorantly thought all tunes were like this and was just the way she goes needless to say I was wrong X_X

I appreciate your response, I was looking at your website last night and reading the threads as well and it sounds pretty awesome. I will definitely be keeping my mind open to all options due to planning on having the car for a long time

Tune really shouldn't be contributing all that much to sound. And you're going to put headers on so you're about to have the loudest and most obnoxious car on the road. But no, tunes are not supposed to be like that whatsoever. Tuned properly, these cars are retain OEM drivability characteristics until you hammer it. I'll even bet that even if your current tune puts down a bigger number on the rollers because its probably just leaned the ef out at the top end your car will actually be and feel faster with a cleaner tune that focuses on the whole powerband and not just that peak number.
Not to mention the potential for really doing some damage to your car on a bad tune...

I was in the same boat as you. But to answer your question... From what I’ve learned.. the Jerk you experience is due to a halfass tune. Your car shouldn’t Jerk at all unless you are on full e85. In fact, the car should be tuned to feel as if you are on a stock tune until you go WOT.
You asked for an overpriced tune that runs like crap? That's a first. Dont be afraid to call it like it is --- you have a bad tune.

My .02. I would stay the hell away from a Eurocharged tune.
My .02. I would stay the hell away from a Eurocharged tune.
My first 09 C63 came with a Kleemann tune and the car was almost undriveable. Like OP - Falling on its face all over the place. Put an early version EC tune on it, cleaned right up.
My second 13 C63 came stock, put the v5 or v6 on it, same result, smooth power delivery throughout, and never had a hiccup at all, and fun factor from bottom to top.
My 14 E63S I brought to EC canada for downpipes, res delete, new plugs/packs, and tune on the rollers which was just an OTS map that was smoothed out on the dyno and put down 620awhp/763awtq. Again, zero hiccups, ever.
3 bouts of business with Eurocharged. ~$7500 between the 3 cars. Zero problems, ever.
I understand some people have issues with Eurocharged. The fact of the matter is no tuning company has gotten it right 100% of the time with OTS maps. Where EC stands out, in my opinion, above the rest is when you do have an issue they seem to always be quick to resolve it and smooth out the wrinkles in peoples tunes. It happens as cars come in all states in terms of maintenance, plugs / packs health, gas quality, etc. That's the nature of OTS maps. But with EC you can rest easy knowing that if you do have a problem they are going to work with you to figure it out and fast.
And I'll repeat those sentiments for hachiroku in that I have seen positive feedback for him as well. Admittedly I do NOT have any experience doing business with him but you can definitely get a feel for these things on this forum and just his responsiveness alone is a good sign when it comes to this sort of thing.
Again, this is just my 2 cents in response and my opinion.... But if you had an issue with Eurocharged and that stayed an issue I firmly believe that is on you for not pursuing it with them in a reasonable manner and you likely just stayed salty about it right out of the gate then went a different direction without giving them a chance to rectify the problem. I have seen many times where people will say they had a hiccup early on with EC but got on it, worked with them, passed logs back and forth, and came out on top with a good tune. I can't really recall a time where someone had a problem and EC stayed chitty about it or didn't find a way to resolve the problem with all parties involved satisfied.
One simply cannot sell a MAXED out tune off the shelf...its not possible. Each state has differing gasoline requirements and although the variation should be minuscule it is not in the terms of high performance tuning. Offering a simple tune that works...sure thats easy. My base map 91 octane based would still out perform drivability standards of all OTS tunes even 93 octane. Will it make more power, no, but it'll be more fun to drive, have more power everywhere else, and on a road race course equate to faster lap times. There are standards and levels to all of this but there is no one size fits all tunes for maximum performance. This is why I only offer custom tunes. With the cost of license it makes no sense for me to offer a OTS tune. For individuals who want an OTS tune, they can reach out to any of the vendors out here.
Reformulated gasoline (RFG) is gasoline blended to burn more cleanly than conventional gasoline and to reduce smog-forming and toxic pollutants in the air we breathe. The RFG program was mandated by Congress in the 1990 Clean Air Act amendments. The first phase of the RFG program began in 1995 and the second (current) phase began in 2000.
RFG is required in cities with high smog levels and is optional elsewhere. RFG is currently used in 17 states and the District of Columbia. About 30 percent of gasoline sold in the U.S. is reformulated.
The air quality benefits RFG has achieved represent a significant part of the country's smog reduction strategy. The RFG program, combined with other industrial and transportation controls aimed at smog reduction, is contributing to the long-term downward trend in U.S. smog levels. About 75 million people breathe cleaner air because of RFG.

Oh man. This isn’t personal at all. I’m simply sharing my experience. And .02.

Was not a fan of daily drivability when I had an EC tune, was ok in C, the rest was pretty jerky, just a canned off the shelf tune like many others, seems to work better on some cars or some people are less critical of the jerkiness. Only car I have been in with an off the shelf tune that was smooth like stock was a renntech car, but it is twice as much money as most others.
