Not a C63 owner but was offered one, looking for input from owners
Hey folks, I was presented with a trade offer.
His:
- 2013 W204 C63 AMG Sedan with P31 package (performance with LSD), untuned
- 100k miles
- Receipts on throttle body cleaning, oil can can, PCV valve, full front PPF recently done, fuel injectors done, new billet pulleys, apple carplay with touch screen retrofit, recent transmission service.
-Incoming parts he will throw in (about 2k install total): right and left valve cover gaskets, both exhaust cams, SLS valve buckets
-Coils and spark plugs will need to be done soon.
- His 17.5k cash.
My:
- 2015 F82 M4 Base (non-competition, but loaded base with all packages minus full leather), untuned
- 70k miles
- Needs new bumper ($2k or so)
- Has maxcare warranty for 2 more years. Potential new owner said he would forego it, allowing me to get ~1.8k back due to pro-rating.
- Crankhub untouched
- LCI ikon Headlights retrofitted, BMS exhaust tips and carbon diffuser
How's this trade offer sound? If not, how much cash what make this a good deal? I'm finding it hard to get an accurate idea on the fairness of this, as its very difficult to accurately price a 2013 C63 with 100k miles (market is currently flooded according to owners I've messaged and with offers coming in at 5-8k under their asking prices). I know the floor is at 23k (trade-in value), but that's at about it. I know my f82 will get somewhere between 44-46k and it has been bulletproof so there's only a few reasons I'm considering this offer:
- Curb depreciation as the C63 is closer to its depreciation floor (main reason)
- Never experienced AMG ownership
- Exhaust note
Other than that, my f82 has a generation's update worth of creature comforts that I love as this is my daily driver, but when the car market bubble pops, I'd really rather not take a 10k hit in value if it does end up being that extreme. Other than that, I have no idea how the AMG be on maintenance from this point, but the car looks incredible for a 100k car. Better than most used cars with 30-40k miles at a dealership. The biggest concern for me at that point is even with all the preventative maintenance done, what else breaks at 100k? I put on about 8k miles a year daily driving these cars.
Any thoughts, fellas? Would appreciate hearing your opinions to make a more well-informed decision!

i would guess the W204 is probably worth somewhere in the $23-25k range. So with the $17.5k cash, you're at $40.5-$42.5k in trade value. I no nothing about the current market for the F82 M4s so dont know if your assessment of 44-46 is accurate or not.

Thanks for the rough valuation. My F82 valuation is from my familiarity of the market and offers received.

It was well-maintained when I bought it (I had the full VMI and MB service history and also did a PPI at a local MB expert), but I've done a bunch of things, all preventatively:
-spark plugs
-fuel injectors
-power steering reservoir
-pulleys/belt
-intake manifold gasket
-PCV valve
-thermostat
-oil/filter
-air filters (engine + cabin)
-rear dif fluid
-transmission fluid
-coolant drain/refill
-brake fluid flush
I've gotten most parts from FCP Euro because of the lifetime warranty (including fluids) and fast/free shipping. I've found the car surprisingly easy to work on and since there were quite a few applications of the M156 engine outside the W204 platform, there are lots of forums, videos, how-to's, DIYs, etc. out there for almost all maintenance items.

about 2,500 miles since i bought it. it's covered/garaged from october-may where I live so I haven't driven it much.

Honestly speaking, having driven both cars now, the F82 (electronically adjustable suspension) rides better for daily purposes than the C63 does. I will say that there's no way I can take advantage of the handling capabilities 100% around here. Not even sure if I can do that with the C63 to be honest. I'm certain the W205 might ride even better but the W204 felt a little harsher than the M4s comfort mode.

205's ride horrible compared to a 204. Was the 204 on lowering springs or something? The only poor riding 204's are 08-09 performance package cars. After all the complaints the softened the performance package dampening rates because of too many box checkers complaining. 205's also have terrible electronic power steering. Sure out of the box they are faster and more fuel efficient, oh yea you can change your interior lighting colors if you're into that too lol.

with 17.5k in cash on top of the car...you're up since BMW's will continue to lose value where as C63's are slowing down or at the bottom.
honestly pick whichever you like, but in my perspective, you're getting the better end of the stick especially since it's a face lift model.
