Hi everyone, I just wanted some advice on what tires I should buy on my 2014 c63 amg coupe. What tires are the best?

Honestly, how long is a piece of string?

Best for what?
Comfort?
Track use?
Longevity?
Dragracing?

Or do you want best overall?
Overall tire i would with my own experiance Continental sportcontact 6
I´m on second season and there is still good amount of thread left, both front and rear(About 10k miles on them)
They won´t outperform semislicks such as pilotsport cup in grip, but offers slightly more comfort.
And there are sportcontact 7´s aviable now, probably offers a little more grip due to more rubber on the road.

thanks for your reply. Just looking for a good overall road driving tire. One that i can occasionally drive hard on and won’t have to worry about a lack of control.

I think you’ll find that the overwhelming answer will be Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.

hey thanks for your response. I’m going to purchase these ones after doing some research. It looks like they are the best option.

the previous owner put new nexen nfera su1 tires on the front right before I purchased the car, so these have about 9mm left on the tread currently. Upon reading about the nfera su1, my understanding is that this is an OK tire. Not a good one for the c63 amg, but an okay one.

would it be alright if I had pilot sport 4s tires on the rear and kept the nfera su1’s on the front? Would I see a massive performance decrease?

this previous owner cheaped out on this 63. The rear tires are one Bridgestone and a delinte. The car pulls one direction when gunning it and I assume it’s because of the low tread and crappy rear setup. Also slips a lot.

Sportcontact 6 is in the same category, but i can't tell the difference as i got no experience of those.
I was choosing between the both when i bought my conti´s, the pilots were on backorder at that point so my choice was easy.
But i´m pleasantly suprised by them.
They were actaully not cheaper.

I find the continentals noisier but otherwise also great tires.

Hi all, I found some reviews that compared the Michelin pilot sport 4s tires and the new continental contact sport 7. Overall, sounds like the contact sport 7’s are the best option, but Michelin pilot sport 4s are still a solid option.

My rims are 18” and I am in the USA. Does anyone know if I can get the contact sport 7 tires in the USA in an 18” size? I can’t find them anywhere online. Might have to import them.

If you trust Tyre Reviews on youtube which I do he says this year the new Continental Sport Contact 7 beats everything including Michelin for a road tyre. I have just fitted these to mine but have yet to properly test them as I need to go back for my suspension tweaking after the KW clubsports settle.

I would replace all 4 of the tires with new ones, then just keep the front su1's as a spare.

The PS4S are a great all around street tire and not a bad choice for an occasional all around track day tire especially if you live in an area where weather could go either way and you arent bringing a second set of tires to the track. They are excellent in wet conditions. At a track day at Palm Beach it was raining so hard that only 5 or 6 cars went out for the last night session. After a couple laps everyone came off track except me. It was raining hard and there were streams of water running from outside to inside of turn 9, the apex was now dictated by the growing puddle on the inside of the corner. Turn 9 is a true hairpin of over 180° that comes after a 1/2 mile long straightaway so you are cooking when you hit the brakes and turn in. I was able to consistently and predictably control the car with no hydroplaning through the water streams lap after lap having the track totally to myself because all the folks with inferior wet tires had gone into the pits due to the drenching conditions. But ps4s do give up some dry weather grip compared to some other tires in the 200-300 tread wear range.

The Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connects are also a good street tire as they are quiet and have large circumferential grooves making them pretty good wet tires also. I am sure they won't last as many miles as PS4S on the road, but they do provide more grip and better lap times in dry conditions if ultimate performance on a streetable tire is the goal. They came out of a national Time Trial event at Sebring which included at least 10 track sessions over 3 days and were still in good shape. They are more predictable and controllable at the limit of traction than the ps4s, but you won't be able to get that extreme on the street to take advantage of it.

Avoid mixing brands front and rear. You'd likely get away with it as traction control would probably keep things in check under an extreme situation where the front and rears might act differently. But if you are using traction control or if you are getting away with mixing tire brands you definitely aren't driving the car properly.

I have a 2014 C63 Coupe, and when purchased it had a mix match of tyres due to a cheap previous owner. I went for four new MPSS 4S's all round and they are a superb tyre! So much grip, comfort and quietness. I would highly recommend them. Rear end only steps out when wanted.

PS4S or the Continentals.
