Has anyone ever installed these (IM gaskets)

Funny story....
When I purchased my long tube headers, The seller listed that gaskets were included. When I receive them I received these as the gaskets.

At first I thought how the hell will these not melt, then I realized they were not for the headers. The person who sold them made a mistake in purchase and threw them in.

Well... Now I have my manifoldoff for the PCV... rather than buy OEM or FEL-Pro..

Should I use these ?
Any one with experience?
Will they leak ?
I don't want hassle so if they are gonna leak I'll just toss them

Any comments appreciated

I'm going through a headers install myself right now.
My mechanic has said repeatedly that they still highly recommend OEM gaskets; they've had rather extensive experience with aftermarket stuff and it's generally not up to OE quality.
YMMV, but that's what I'm told by people who've gone through this process.

No no
Please look again
I bought headers.... The seller through in what he thought were exhaust manifold gaskets....

However, they were for the intake.
VRP makes a silicone gasket to lower intake temps.
There has been some discussion as to whether it was worth it or not

That isn't my question

My question is EXACTLY as you have answered with regards to reliability.... but about the INTAKE gasket from VRP that's thicker

Yes. They are phenolic intake manifold gaskets. Yours look like the Sikky ones. Do a search, I have them installed. They isolate the heat of the cylinder heads from the intake manifold. I like them but they’re a little tricky to install.

Ya I was wondering on reliability / leakage.
I think they are VRP only bc I bought new headers but 2nd hand from a guy who never installed them and he threw these in.. ( the headers are VRP)

Given the issues you've been chasing down, If it were me I'd get the OEM gaskets instead of introducing a potential new problem area. Consensus says stick with OEM.

Are those that dealio with making sandwiches of RTV and 2 pairs OEM gaskets? I read that thread and my brain turned off.

The OEM ones are easy to install. The ones I have said M159 on them. Don't forget to use new bolts. They are 1 time use since you stretch them upon install.

Yessir. It’s a messy sandwich.

I have a set of these sitting in a parts storage bin. Might be a good winter project along with 82mm TBs, assuming I can source a good used IM (would rather not mess with my perfectly functioning original one and keep it as a backup).

For the gasket sandwiches, is there is a preferred RTV to use?

I just installed mine and it was a messy sandwich. It doesn’t feel like I have any leak and the intake manifold air pressure is in an acceptable range. I may need to take off the intake manifold again for another job, are these multi use or should get a new set of those sikky?

Also I had the idea of clamping all 3 gaskets first with RTV in place using a few clamps then apply RTV and install them as one. Might make it less messy and easier for me to apply/install because I’m not sure what the working time is for the RTV. That seems ok because when torquing the manifold I feel it would be pressured all around.

Are any of you datalogging the IAT before/after?

I thought about these but after properly venting my hood, IAT became a non issue.

I also thought briefly of that, but there was too much risk in not getting them clamped evenly. Nothing replaces being sandwiched and the RTV setting in place. Then you can be 100% sure it’s airtight.

I believe they are one-time use. Even if they’re not technically, they’re inexpensive enough that I wouldn’t reuse them.

So you guys are using TWO sets of OEM gaskets on each bank, these in the middle and RTV to keep it tight?

And not worried about leaks?
Bolts backing out ?

Someone can have mine.

I'm too much of a ***** for that

Yes. I’ve had mine on since 2017. No leaks. No loose bolts.
