SCed m156 belt length...

So, belt snapped on my Magnuson SCed m156 yesterday so I bought a belt today just to get me through until the kit comes in from FCPeuro.
Belt I bought today is a Dayco brand and is supposedly 1/4" shorter than the Gates that was on it. This belt is visibly and physically loose and sqeals and flops like crazy. Tensioner seems tight as a drum so I'm confused.
Any ideas?

Gates - K061077 HD - 107.75 inch effective length - fit great, probably aged out since that's one of the few records I couldn't find since I just bought this 6 mos ago.

Dayco- 5061075 - 170.48 inch effective length - the band-aid not working out.

The belt shipped with the standard Magnuson Hammer Supercharger is a 6PK2698 (Pitch diameter of 2,698mm (106.22 inches)).
If running the Southways SledgeHammer 40% overdrive upgrade, the belt is a 8PK1589.

Yeah, something is definitely not right. The Gates is a slightly bigger belt than that Dayco. I use Dayco all the time on my 1230 HP Camaro and their belt specs are usually spot on.

EDIT: Forgot to ask, did you check the number on the belt itself vs what was printed on the paper sleeve it comes in? I’ve seen that before, people at the parts store will end up selling a “mismatched” belt.

Just noting that there may be an issue with your numbers above... hopefully a typo.
You indicate that the Gates is 107.75 inches, & the Dayco is 170.48.
At 170.48, it may indeed be a little loose - it is ~64 inches too long

Yeah, I transposed the Gates numbers. 170.75. I'd hope that would've dawned on me flopping that much. 😂

Problem solved. My dumbass combined the stock belt routing with Magnuson's for some effed up Frankenstein routing that obviously didn't work. Correct routing and voila', who knew? 🤦‍♂️😂

Probably needed a new belt and pulleys anyway, so livin' and learnin' over here.

Thank you, that's the exact pic I found and used to fix this mess I created. 👍

Went under the 2nd pulley from the right on the bottom instead of over it. Stock is under, Magnuson is over. 🤘
