C63 Mufflers, different sound?

Hey guys currently have ARH headers into ARH catback exhuast. I still have my complete stock exhuast system. While i like the sound of my current setup i keep wondering what it would sound like if i changed out the ARH mufflers for the stock C63 ones. Has anyone got any idea what this might sound like, if it would increase, decrease sound or change tone in any way? Here's a picture of my setup (minus resonator already deleted that).

Supposedly, c63 mufflers do very little muffling at all and are more like big resonators. If true, you'd need to know what's actually inside your ARH mufflers to know which way a swap would take you.
I do know the E63 guys prefer our mufflers to swap and I'd imagine it's because they're more open and louder.

The factory c63 mufflers are mufflers. I took mine off recently and the sound is probably double or even approaching triple the sound now. So much so that I have added some race mufflers to try and tame it down a notch. I believe the arh quiet it down a bit compared to stock so going back to the factory muffler would add a bit ro your system.

you are saying that going back to the stock mufflers would make my system louder and more aggressive? That's what i would like but i don't want to spend the money unless it's for sure and i'm just not sure how I can prove this.

The best set up I have ever heard is MBH headers, secondary cat delete, stock resonators, stock mufflers.

I would never change the resonator or mufflers on these cars as you lose the amg tone.

The x-pipe design on a lot of these headers like ARH or MBH smooth out the tone and the bullet mufflers from ARH also make it sound slightly raspy at full throttle. The car sounds a lot more like a domestic cam in block V8, which is fine if you prefer that.

The previous owner of my C63 cut out the resonators from an otherwise stock exhaust and it sounds great at idle but way too loud and raspy at full throttle for me. If anyway wants to trade for a stock system in the Houston area please let me know.

Madcow, that ARH catback is pretty unique. I've never seen a catback for our car that branches into y pipe like that into the muffler. Are you thinking about removing the mufflers at the last clamp and fabricating piping with the oem mufflers?

Yes i am considering removing the ARH mufflers and adding the stock ones back in. I realise the piping is different sizes as the ARH is 3', i'm also not sure where the best place to cut it would be. There's some decent fabrication shops i know so am thinking about asking them what they think might be the best way to do this.

you don't need to cut anything the factory system will bolt right up to the headers x pipe.

I would just remove at the last clamp right past the diff. That way you could salvage and sell them if you wanted to

lol thanks man. It all started from a cams/lifter upgrade and the mods snowballed from there. My old catch can set-up failed on my last dyno run so I'll go back for numbers after I put in the new cam timing tune, e85 tune and catback.

C63 mufflers will completely change the sound of the ARH mufflers.

ARH mufflers have a deep American v8 sound, C63 have the high pitch exotic AMG sound.

Very hard to find aftermarket mufflers that sound better than the straight-through design of the C6 mufflers.
