Edition 1 side stripes
The stick-on black stripes along the bottom of the sides of the car look tacky to me. I may asking the dealer to remove them prior to delivery.
Anyone else?

However, I also wanted the car to look different to the standard C63s and well as better differentiated against non AMG C-Classes.
I will have the side decals on my car when it is delivered and will have them taken subsequently taken off (as they are just a sticker) if I get tied of the look over time.

Opinions were quite polarised between keeping them and instant removal. In the end I've decided to keep them (for all the reasons above) and live with them for a while. If I don't like them after a month or so then I'll get them taken off. My dealer is happy to oblige.
To me they look more like something that was added as aftermarket rather than OEM.
First time I saw the car when it arrived at the dealer it didn't have the stripes. Later after the PDI and they were installed, I liked the look less, so I saw the car both ways.
If you worry about resale, you can always buy a set to affix to the car at that time.

PS: I too am wondering about removing the side stripes. For now, I think I will leave them.
Taking delivery
Need to get a better shot but love that carbon fiber with the red accent thread.
Baby's home.
I also can't get past the use of the C63 badge which has no relevance to the displacement. It's a poke in the eye. Yes, the argument can be made that it is 6.2 in the 204, but that's a whole lot more accurate than the 205 with 4. There is no reliable replacement for displacement. FI is hot and over engineered.

I did find the ride a bit harsh in the city (where we all do most of our driving). I also found the seats a bit of an issue as the side and bottom left side bolsters took a beating getting in and out of the car. As I had red/black seats the red portion was taking a beating. My dealer agreed to re do the seat back bolster as it wore pretty badly. The seat cushion bolster started looking rather ratty when I traded the car. OK, that is minor.
Other issues related to design and performance also bugged me a bit as well as the very poor fuel consumption when driving the car normally.
The fact that the car overheated after 3 or 4 laps on the track was ridiculous. Yes AMG came out with a cooling kit fix but the customer (me) would have had to purchase it and have it installed. In the US the cost would be about $3000 in Canada where I am it was more like $5000. A ridiculous fault that the customer had to pay for to fix a design flaw.
Some of the earlier cars had the head bolt issue (not in my case) but I found it odd for AMG to make this gaff. It didn't apply to me but ....
OK, I still like the brand and to prove it I bought the W205 C63S Ed1 (minus the black striped, I had those removed prior to delivery (personal taste))
Now the W205 Ed1 is different. Yes the look is much less aggressive but more stealthy, the performance is as good or better, the fuel consumption is settling down and the interior, where we live after all, is exquisite. The seat bolsters are electrically adjustable which solves my pet peeve and the ride in comfort mode in town is very pleasant.
I am heading for the track at the end of the month once the car is well broken in and I'll be able to compare true performance. I'm assured by the AMG rep that the heat problem is gone in this car.
The 63 nomenclature is a Mercedes heritage and I don't really care if the engine has been modernized to turbo and better fuel efficiency and not match the badge. There is absolutely no turbo lag that I can feel. It's a name and does not need to reflect displacement. BMW has for example an idiotic new approach to model names. So what right, off topic sorry.
The dash , controls and electronic features for the driver are far superior to the W204 with lots of cool upgrades including internet access and the controller pad. I'm now used to the column shifter and enjoy just pushing one button to put the car in park and engage the parking brake.
The spot of the old shifter replaced by the mouse pad and controller is much better. Even opening the center storage unit with the button in front rather than the sides is nice. Sun glasses slot, the sliding roof and shade, the interior lighting, the gorgeous seats, the line of switches in the center console, the electronic rear diff, the suspension etc etc are all fantastic improvements.
Even the look of the engine under the hood looks much nicer if you enjoy peeking in there once in a while like I do.
Nice car!
End of rant, thanks for listening.
As far as the W204 goes, I also bought a face lifted car in 2012 and I thought it was ok. For me the best thing about it was the noise.

To be honest, I only bought the Edition 1 for the interior. I don't like the stripes but I don't hate them enough to take them off immediately and I don't mind the red lips or the red accents on the mirrors. I'm not sure about the wheels.
I had no intention of buying a car with black wheels and matte paint, but since I'm wrapping it in matte effect paint protection film I guess I didn't buy a car with matte paint. I wanted a blue wagon with the cross spoke silver wheels and Edition 1 interior, but there's no such thing.
I'm on the fence regarding the stripes drawing attention. My A45 attracts a LOT of attention, and it's completely stock white with black wheels but I've removed the A45 and AMG badges and nobody knows WTF it is. I've seen people walk around it when it's parked, trying to figure it out. They know it's not an A250 or A180, but they'll eventually spot the "TURBO AMG" badges on the side - that helps some people, others are still confused.
