I was talking to an installer about blacking the grill out. He was saying it would be fairly expensive due to the complexity. If it was able to come off, it would be a lot cheaper. Is this easy to do? For people that have had the grill blacked out, did the shop remove it or leave it on? Any help would be appreciated.
I did mine using Plastidip while it was still attached. Also applied some Glossifier to get a gloss look. The result looks awesome, it was cheap to get the Plastidip and really easy to do. I packed some newspaper behind the grill before I sprayed and masked the area. If you don't like the result, just peel it off later. Check out DipYourCar.com for instructions.
A God shop should be able to remove. The star pops out by just turning and you can pop the fins off the grill from behind if you remove the air intakes from the front. Really not be more then an hour labor to take on and put back. The actual wrapping cost I am not sure. A few people have already done it.

It is different if you have all the electronics up front. All of these guys don't so its a much easier job. Got to be careful when it comes to the electronics.
Had mine wrapped along with the trunklid. Dropped it off in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. It wasn't cheap, $375 total but looks fantastic!
Any competent wrapper/vinyl installer should be able to black out the grille easily with it installed on the car. I would shy away from Plastidip as the finish will never be perfect.
I don't have a C63, but my local shop Wrap ID blacked out my silver bits, including the grille and the diffuser (in one piece as well!)

but now I'm wondering would it look better which the star being blacked out as well or everything other than the star ..
