Penrite Copper Eze it's a cheap product in Australia they are all the same. Copper grease in a tub don't use the spray-on one as it's not thick enough

Thanks please do as I'm 100% certain it'll cure it and just hoping others can get theirs fixed too after seeing your feedback tomorrow 👍

Greased and test drove. Little excess came back out the holes so I wiped that down as well. My car originally didn’t rattle that much, but you could notice it during light load and idle. Car sounds much better/cleaner without the rattle. Family also thinks it doesn’t sound like a tin can now

How good is it without the rattle aye?

You're all set now man didn't I tell you it would work with copper grease! Did you do the H-pipe only or all 3 flaps?

Here is a clip of mine just after greasing the H-pipe and mild acceleration in 3rd. Zero rattles

Haha definitely enjoying the clean exhaust note. I'm glad people won't think I'm driving a tow truck anymore. I did all three flaps as my mufflers were actually a little worse than the H pipe. Hopefully it stays this way for a while haha

Glad it worked man.

It will stay that way for at least 3 to 6 months then as the grease gets dried you'll need to grease the H-pipe again one more time and that's it. It will never rattle again.

Mercedes had the right idea with lubricating the flaps but their grease is sh*t because it can't handle the heat and hardens up after a few weeks. Copper grease won't harden like the Mercedes grease does, it just becomes a tiny bit dry and thick but won't harden up.

hey Jimmy im guessing the same process will apply to the muffer valves too? Insert the lubricant in the holes in the valve assembly?

That's right same process brother make sure it's the thick copper grease from the tub too not the thin spray type and you're good to go.

How long after applying the grease did it take for the sound to go away? I have a 2022 GLE63s with the same exact rattle problem being described here. I used about 4 of the 5ml syringes and the sound is still there. Would you put more or try something else?

Use a torch on the spring and stretch it a little. This is the fix

So are people welding it shut or the fix is the copper grease method?

I used a higher tension spring from a dodge and copper grease. Issue is gone.

hey Jimmy, I tried the copper grease but unfortunately the rattle is still there. I believe I applied it correctly. You just put the syringe inside the holes? I wonder if they have enough room because the shop said those holes are for screws. Any other thoughts? Thanks

I found replacing the spring to be best fix. Copper Grease did not work for me. You can buy the spring from Dodge for less than $40. Part number 68319331AA

Disconnect the cable to the actuator you want to swap the spring on and then there are three bolts on the actuator that you remove to get to where the spring is:

Then you pull the old spring out and put the new one in its place

Then, reseat on the cradle and connect everything back.

these pics are on the muffler I removed from the car (my rattle was in the h-pipe actuator).

thanks for the details. Will it be necessary to remove the mufflers to work on this or I imagine a car lift will make things easier?

also when you say pull out the old spring, is that just a simple pull and insert new one or any tools required for it?
