Official exhaust software upgrade
#226
Mine had the update today at my third try. I complained about the jerky shift and it was too quiet. It seems that complaining about the gear shifts is the key to getting it sorted. Sounds way better now.

Glad you got it sorted it but its ridiculous that you have to make up excuses when the reason for its existence is a sound complaint!

Hey Mate, that would be ideal. I was straight up with them, I told them I felt like my exhaust note seemed lower than usual and I had heard on the forums that there is a update that fixes it. All they had to do was search it and they found the exact update. Doesn't take them long at all either. Good luck, don't think there will be an issue.

Hi Sanch, I had the 3000k diff oil changed today finally but was told they had never heard of the exhaust upgrade to these cars. I had even shown the service guy the software code that was for this upgrade and the bulletin page it was printed on on this forum but he said that it did not exsist and was very unhelpful. I'm with Northshore AMG at Chatswood, which dealer did you get your done at? I'm so pissed off because you spend all this money on a car and they can't even be straight up with you. Any feedback would be much appreciated, thanks mate.
Mine was build July 2016... I'm quite close with the boys at my dealership (Mosman) so when I told them my exhaust seemed quieter than before they looked after it.
As you just had the diff oil change I have a feeling your car is a 2017?

The dealer is slightly correct. If you looked up one of the other codes there'd be no record of it... but if he changed the first two letters to our region it would come up

Hey mate, if your car was built in 2017 it will already have it.

My car went in for its B service as well as some campaign bulletins that were for my VIN (coil packs and something about the firewall?!?), anyway... I asked them to also do this update while it was in - and HOLY CRAP what a difference a software update makes!!
The exhaust is much louder and has a bunch of pops and crackles on lift off that it didn't have before.
Thanks for all the info - probably the best "free" upgrade I've ever made to a car
Needless to say I took the long way home from the dealership.

I want to go in to get the trans update and possible the exhaust update done but i'm now tuned so i'm concerned if they will flash it back to stock. Anyone knows any information regarding this?

Don't know if any of you guys have seen or come across this https://www.active-sound.eu/en/merce...-valve-control it's a module that alows the valve to be fully open all the time even from cold start as normaly they are only open fully at full power. have a look at the video sound good.

Also this video shows how the software up date for sound improves the bangs a pops to the car.
And the next video shows the difference to sound with active sound module fitted to cars with the sound up date and with out up date.

Update.
Trim you were spot on mate.
I picked my car this afternoon, and YES the engine and transmission software needed updating, and so it was done.
I now get multiple crackles on lift off. It used to be just the one.
Throttle response in S+ is now more controlled.
Exhaust sound in S+ is deeper with more crackles.
Only downside now for me is in comfort with performance exhaust on:
The car sounds quieter. It used to rumble and sound deeper before the update.
I suppose what it means is the parameters between comfort and sport+ are now wider apart.
3rd to 4th gear changes now seamless.
Interesting thing, I just got a call as I was typing this from AMG, following up on my complaint.
Thank you all once again.

Late reply but glad you got the update through Uga.
Yes I too noticed that the exhaust in comfort mode is now quieter
In fact i've noticed that in the lower rev range (below 1.5 - 2k the exhaust is noticeably quieter even with the flaps open and also when braking or using the HOLD function the exhaust note also quietens, even in Sport+ for me at least.
It's annoying because one of the best things for me pre-update was the rumble at standstill and low revs with the exhaust on in any driving mode which whilst still there, just doesn't have the same depth to it as before.
A shame that this had to be the tradeoff for a livelier exhaust and smoother transmission when opening up the revs in Sport+. Hopefully AMG takes note and comes up with a solution.
