Just got off the phone with an SA at Mercedes of Scottsdale. He is telling me they cannot just update the software on a car and that I must have a problem with my car in order to update the software? Not sure if this is true or if you guys have been giving a complaint in order to have this done.

That is also true in Germany. Most guys over here say, that the car has a lot less sound, than early production C63S (which is true!).

OK. Why don't you register at the AMG Private Lounge and post a thread over there with your problem? I am pretty sure, that AMG will chime in and help you!

Okay, so I just spoke to my SA, who checked my VIN and said:
1. There are 4 recalls on my car
2. I need the 2k mile differential service
3. Since my car, a 2016 sedan with very hard downshifts from 2nd to 1st, was built in 08/2015, he will do the software upgrade for me.
I was gonna bring the car in this Friday for everything... but on the way to work, my Check Oil - Add 1 Quart light went on... so, I guess I might take it in later today.
I'll keep everyone posted with regards to the software upgrade at least.

Went to the dealers today who told me my car is up to date on all software. It's always popped a little bit revving, upshift, downshift and a tiny bit on part throttle at high revs, so I guess that's how it is with the 'noisy' software.

Well, on my way home that day the Check Oil light went off and never came back on.
When I got home I opened the hood... and don't laugh... but this dip-stick couldn't find the dip-stick... so I didn't check.
In any case, I took my car in on Thursday and they just called me to pick it up... which will be tonight or tomorrow morning.
Had the rear differential service ($200 incl tax)...
They topped off the oil...
They took care of 4 recalls...
And they updated the software to the most current, here's what is says in the email:
Found New Software. Connect Battery Charger. Perform Software Update on VGS and ME. PERF SCN Coding on Both. Recheck Operation.
Anyone know what that means?

Holy smokes. Just picked my car up, and whatever those codes mean above... It did the trick.
Sounds like a different car. Waaaay more pops and crackles. Only drove it for a few miles, as I had to be somewhere with the fam, but noticed the difference right away.
If you've got the old software... Go get it upgraded... You'll thank me later.

I'm stopping by the dealer tomorrow and have a buddy who works as a mech and a SA so I will ask for anyone who is in a 2017+ Sedan or Coupe

I've had the same SA for years. Cool cat, always taken good care of me. If you've got the same situation, should be easy.
Even if you don't, just tell your SA that your car is shifting really hard in S+ and race mode and it's very uncomfortable And you heard that the newer software fixes it.
Should work.

following up with you guys my SA informed me that any car that was built after June of 2016 has the "software upgrade" there is atm no software upgrade available for our engines/exhaust.

That is not true. The new software was made available in November 2016. My car, in fact, was build in Nov. 2016 and had the old software.

Could this not just be a placebo effect where you want to feel something different because you're being told that a change was made?
I've got a 2016 build and there's 1 recall for the COMAND system (Australian delivery C63s) and no other foreseen updates.
If we can get more context around the VGS / ME updates are I think that lends to the credibility and your understanding when speaking with the friendly SA's

But my SA being friendly, and a trustworthy guy over the last decade, has nothing to do with the fact that I could tell a significant difference within minutes of driving my car off the lot after the update. Period.
It's funny, cause before I bought my car, I actually test drove a different c63s, without the PE. And I thought it sounded great. Didn't even know it was an option on the c63.
I originally went to buy a c43... Wound up test driving a c63, and was completely entranced by the exhaust note... Pops and crackles. Of course the sheer power...
But my point being... When I bought the c63s, with the PE... I still loved it, but always wondered why that original vehicle I test drove, without the PE, was so much livelier.
Until I read this thread... And learned that I might have older software. Immediately peaked my interest.
Well let me tell you this...NO placebo effect my friend. If you've got the old software, get the update, you'll laugh at that notion as well.
