Yes. What is the performance in a real world situation with the hood closed. My summer is 90ºF + with humidity at 70-80%. Your in traffic, some of it stop and go with high underhood temps. I wouldn't want the engine to directly breath the air under the hood. Renntech retains the stock airbox on their R2 (709hp) tune, and also on their R3 (767hp) tune with only changing the filter elemnent to a BMC filter. The air box design doesn't seem that restrictive if they continue to use it with their most aggressive tune.

Like every dyno I’ve seen, the hood is open with big fan blowing, if you run 3 consecutive without allowing the engine to cool down, you will lose power due to timing retard cause by heat soak. I can’t imagine in really world when the hood is closed waiting at the traffic light heat soak for a mins.

My car is completely stock excepted for the Dinan piggyback. My engine temp before Dinan tuned were around 205F. Now it running 215F with Dinan tuned. If I floor it 2-3 consecutive times, the engine temp climb up to 225F right away but still safe. I think anything above 240F is unsafe and engine will retard the timing to protect the engine which mean, you will make less power. With an open air box, I’m guessing my engine temp will reach the unsafe area if I keep flooring it.

Payam, is it still okay to block off the wastegate pipes on your intake? currently, i have them blocked on stock intake with little plugs as I'm using the BOV

I have my jb4 and intake on order

Yes. It actually better keeping your intake cleaner from the dirty air mixed with oil residue being blown back into the intake.

Can you post the JB4 logs from these runs?

Also could you make my tubes red instead of black?
They should be on my laptop still, I'll check for them tomorrow.

Testing conditions were relatively warm weather, small dyno fan, hood open. Nothing like what you'd have in motion at 60mph or 100mph, for example. We've done runs with the hood down and results were the same but the runs in this specific dyno are hood open.

The real test is 1/4 mile MPH and we saw 2mph+ gains at higher boost levels with the intake. Like I said you guys are going to like it.

As soon as you're in motion air is flushed through the engine bay. That aside do you know how many cubic feet of air your engine takes in every second at higher RPM? An entire engine bay worth of air volume is ingested in to the engine every second or two.

The only way it can be the same with hood closed and open if you dyno only one run and wait for the engine to cool down. If you run 3 consecutive pulls, there will be heat soak and no way result will be the same.

Usually we keep things standard with a 30 second or 60 second cool down between runs. I do hood down runs all the time with similar intakes it never makes much difference due to how much volume of air the engine draws even with the reduced airflow relative to real world from small dyno fans.

Yeah, me too on this front. I'm glad I opened it the day it arrived rather than waiting until I was torn down and ready to install. BMS was apologetic and issued a return shipping label quickly, for the one I wrongfully received, and said they'd ship out the new one the next day (though no quicker shipping method).

It's a shame, but that's the warehouse life...c43 been the only option so long the change to c63 probably just overlooked by fulfillment folks.

Even more disappointing that it’s not just me and a regular thing. I expected more from a company who has been in business for a number of years. Considering I’ve bought a JB4 and other stuff for my N54, N55, B9S4 and now stuff for my C63.

Hmm, that is disappointing.

Hope BMS fixes it quick and we can see some installed photos / review soon

Ge the UPS intake spacers and filter kit and call it day.
All the other designs are prone to heat soak.

Show us some actual data that those spacers have ANY affect whatsoever on the M177. Until then, enough with the BS claims about any other competitors intake setups.

Those spacers are the biggest waste of money on this platform, you’re 10x better off buying a set of BMC drop in filters. Prove me wrong, please...

The white stuff inside the pipe is metal shavings
My kit just arrived, quick match-up looks fine but bit disappointed with Quilty Check process.

There is still metal sharpness /shaving inside the intake pipes and paint chips ( make sure you guys check yours before installing )

Do you remember if it was one or both pipes? They're all cleaned and bathed before powder coating, so it's very odd to see that still there.
I'll take a closer look and check some of them out when I get into the office.

hey just curious, is there a dyno done with JUST the air intake? I’d imagine one wouldnt see much of a gain? Thanks
