Quote: What was the part number for the rear pads? It only shows front pads only. Nothing for the rear.

This is a copy, in part, from what I received from EBC Brakes:Good morning Bruce,

That part number don’t excise and not sure if it will excise.

With the list of requirements you have given, we would recommend our yellow stuff pads, the link to all our pads is bellow.

It would seem the brake pad design shown for the rear will fit a 2020 model with red calipers. Wish it had been Red Stuff. I can't get Red Stuff for the front brakes on my Macan TT. Think the front rotors are 390mm large so I'm also forced to use Yellow Stuff all around.

Got new pads and rotors all around and these brakes still squeal every now and then and it drives me nuts and everyone tells me that this should be expected from high performance brakes

HP brakes squeal. Ther's nothing yu can do for the most part. To me, on a car of this caliber, it's a sign of very HP braking system. However, personally, I dislike squealing. Eventually, I'll be upgrading to something else.

I fell victim to that too...ordered front and rear EBC red stuff from summit racing for my pre FL C63s (red calipers)....front fits, rear does not...searching now for low dust pads that fit.

good luck. i just replaced pads and rotors all around and had to search a lot for rear pads. You really only have two options: Porterfield or OEM.

Uff, I guess I will rock my OEM for some more time...just wanted to replace with something less dust.

I installed Porterfields 2 weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. NO dust, NO squealing.

I'm pretty sure the sedan's are the same but I have note verified that. I called before placing my order and the folks were very easy to deal with and answered my questions immediately. Give em a call.

Also, if you are replacing the brakes yourself, PM me and we can discuss process. There are a few tips I can offer that would have saved me a lot of time. ie; I did not replace wear sensor. They're cheap but not listed on the Porterfield site (or I overlooked them), so I forgot them. Because the existing one was not worn, I just transferred it to the new pads. Also, it's hugely important to go into the service screen and retract the e-parking brake before doing anything else.

Thanks a bunch. Yeah, I forgot to order the wear sensors too but the shop I asked to do it was knowledgeable enough to remind me I need to order those. I thought it was easier for me to order the type/brand of pads I wanted instead of having the shop order it...lesson learned ;-(

The Porterfield R4S AP1669 don't fit the 2017 C63S AMG Coupe with red calipers. I just tried fitting them today to a frustrating end. From my research it seems to be a hit or miss, there's a metal cylinder extension thing on the pad that might be too thick even once you clamp the caliper all the way down to the max. I'm not sure why some people are reporting it fits and some people say it doesn't fit, maybe there's some variation from the factory?

Well, I just installed these today in the rear of my C63s sedan with red calipers. Had fronts replaced 4 weeks ago with EBC red stuff but there rears did not fit. Ordered the AP1669 and fit fine.

I suppose it works for the sedan then. I can't find specific mention of the coupe rears working

Just call Porterfield. Their customer service is great and knowledgeable. I am not aware that coupe brakes are any different but they would tell you. When I ordered mine they called me to verify I ordered the right pads before proceeding. Was lucky as mine just went out. 18k miles and pads were worn down to the brake sensor giving me an alarm...and I don’t even race.

i thought I had the same problem as well, I remember installing oem brakes before I got these Porterfield r4s and they didn’t have the metal bracket on the back of the rear brakes, I called Porterfield customer service and they said some have the fitment for it some don’t, my guess is Porterfield makes those specific brake pads globally and some are fitted for the metal bracket. They also don’t come with clips ):

Yeah I had to reuse my old clips too lol. Anyways I got it to work, I talked with topbrakes, who I ordered from, and they said all I had to do was gently pry off the metal cylinder piece with a flathead screwdriver. The piece popped off its adhesive and the pad fits now.

Stoptech is also an option. As a note, I have not tried them on my car...

Hi guys,

I'm going to purchase Porterfield R4-S for C63S w/ red calipers.

Do pads come with wear sensor?
If not, does oem one connects to them?

Anyone get porterfield pads for C63S red calipers? I ordered AP1291 as people mentioned above and it seems like they send the wrong one or it does not fit. The NON-S brake pads have the two metal cylinder thing correct?

Yeah I recently switched to Porterfields. They prob sent you the wrong ones because I too ordered AP 1291 and 1669 and had no issues with fitment.
