That one is a pre-facelift car - you can tell by the analogue dash.

No, it's 2019 without digital dash option

I guess you didn't see the grill, the wider center display or the steering wheel.

No, you're quite right I didn't!!

I had no idea it was possible to spec without the digital dash. It wasn't on the option sheet in the UK.

Honestly, I do not think the exhaust got any louder and the pops/crackles are the same.

How frequent do you guys hear the pops and crackles?

For me, if I put the dynamic select to sport +, it pops and crackles ONLY when I manually downshift or crank up the RPM to 5-6k and let the throttle go.
Autovlog on YouTube just posted a review of a 2019 coupe and talks extensively about the lack of crackles and pops

Man, I can't stand that autovlog guy. hahaha. his video style is so annoying...too much personal opinion/conjecture and too much of stating the obvious. Haha.

That said, he is not wrong in the sound department, as we all know...

Vader, off topic, when are you supposed to get your car? Is it in production/soon to be produced or did you order a 2020? Not sure if you posted this somewhere else already...

No way I'd give up my 18 for a 19. Didn't know how bad it was. But he really showed how prominent the lack of sound really is.

Yes and he looked genuinely depressed about it. I may cancel my order lol and look for an 18

What I am wondering is wether a tune will restore those legendary crackles and possibly make them even louder than a 18.

I've read that the GLC63, the E63 and the GT sound better too. I wonder how they managed to screw the C63 up. It doesn't make sense.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I prefer the sound of the 2019. I'm frankly no friend of the forced pops & bangs fad, especially if I'm on the receiving end. It's one thing to enjoy the theatrics on a deserted canyon road or some other remote area, but the issue is that there are lots of juvenile meatheads that think it's super cool to make their cars pop & bang in cities and towns. Over the last two months I stayed in several large European cities and this has quite evidently become an epidemic. I have a strong feeling that AMG toned down the C63, because it often lands in the hands of young guys who find it cool to disturb everybody. It's always a few black sheep that have to ruin it for everybody else. I'm in London currently and it's the same thing here. I guess there is really no place around here where one can enjoy these cars so they doodle around in London at slow speeds and annoy everybody with the theatrics of their cars. It's somewhat a very sad situation and definitely has become a major nuisance. It's no different in cities like LA. The number of high performance cars showing off and cruising the city in bumper to bumper traffic is very sad. At least if you take the time and have the will to fight the traffic, there are some nice canyons outside LA, but places like Mulholland Drive have been ruined as well and the cops have pretty much set up camp to crack down on fun driving. In NorCal fortunately it isn't like that yet and the distances to some nice open canyon roads are smaller and less trafficked.

I do think you have a valid point here. The C63 is the "entry level" V8 AMG and I'm sure the car ends up in the hands of younger guys who are up to mischief.

I highly doubt MB changed the sound on their flagship car cuz some “kids” make them make noises they’re supposed to make lol. It the most insane reasoning for these lack of pops I’ve ever heard lol.

i genuinely think it’s part of their plan to gradually get us ready for the sound the non v8 c63 will make. It would be too devastating to go from 17-18 c63 straight to non v8 c63. So they gradually tone the sounds down. First the pops go, next the rumble. AMG will die when the C63 goes V6, even with hybrid combinations etc. none of it matters. A v6 will never sound like a v8. Just like and apple will never be a banana.
