Looks like a lot here are looking for noise. I watched Mike's videos at the beginning when his C63S was stock and I was doing my research, but I pretty much stopped when he downpiped and tuned it. Especially with the initial tune, it ruined the car IMO, but to each their own. I would not give up all the improvements in the 2019 for an 18 or 17.

You and I think similarly on this, there is a difference between good sound and just annoying loud noise. I didn't think autovlogs c63s sounded as good after the tunes and mods he did. It make it sound ridiculous in a loud and annoying way.

The c63s from the press release sounds the best IMO, not over the top and just sounds good.

I think this as well, the press cars sounded the best. I find mine a bit quieter too along with the lack of pops and bangs.

What do you guys think is going to happen, in your experience, does AMG address this issue. Especially since alot of us ordered our cars based on the press reviews.

A similar issues been addressed by AMG in the past. So perhaps time will tell.

We should keep sending complaints about the c63s not sounding like the press release cars to AMG, only way to get something done about this.

You do of course realize that maybe 1% of the people that buy this car will ever take it to a track.

You can hit up a canyon road in Race mode, too, but that's kinda my point. Lot of people buy this car w/o having an opportunity to really drive it. Is that the fault of the car? Overall I would say the 2019 is a better GT, than the 18 and 17. It's more well behaved at lower speeds and around town and very comfortable driving long distances at high speeds. I probably have a bit of a different perspective on the car now, having had the fortunate experience of driving this car for 2 months on the German Autobahn. I'll see how I feel about it once I get to drive it back home, but I take these things out to the canyons for fun driving and appreciate if the car is well behaved around town.

Not really. There's more to S+ than sound. I might wanna tighten up the engine mounts etc. and still have a roaring exhaust with valves open, but w/o machine gun sounds. Currently S+ delivers that, and if I want more pops & bangs I can put it in Race. To be honest, I drove a 2018 when I placed my order and I had it in S+. I don't remember much bangs & pops, none on the downshifts. I do remember quite a bit of theatrics from driving another 2018 in Race mode, but only once I put it in Race mode.

Coming from a guy that never owned a pre-facelift (and no, a couple test drives don't make you an expert)

P.S. My '18 is very well behaved at low speeds and very comfortable driving long distances. Also, my exhaust pops & cracks the same (frequently) in both Sport+ & Race.

These are not 10 minutes go to the dealer test drives. I rented them through Turo etc and did several hundred miles on my typical stints. I do a lot of due diligence before buying a car. I didn't say the prefacelift was uncomfortable, but for starters the 2019 has a much better suspension. This is not just coming from me, but guys like Mr. AMG. Perhaps he is more of an expert to you. Speaking of experts, how much time have you spent in a 2019? Or is watching these videos and following this thread making you an expert on the facelift? Anyway, we all have our preferences and some here seem to be really upset about the sound, I get that. Most gripes seem to come from folks who haven't even spent a minute in a 2019, though. If sound is the only thing you bought this car for, then by all means stay away from the 2019.

I’m sure the 2020 will be the same as the 19. Just ordered one. Should get PO and build number Monday. First decade October build. Said late nov-early dec delivery. I’ll be sure to post a rev video day one. Under 4500 of course.

Where do I claim to be an expert on the facelift? I haven't posted a single comment on this forum making comparative claims between the pre- & post facelift cars. That said, I will call out those that make false/misleading representations regarding the '18.

Btw, the stock exhaust sound IS one of the primary reasons I bought this car.

2018 C63SA Cabriolet
While I haven't heard a 2019 exhaust in person, just watching the video and straining to hear pops and crackles - especially during downshifts - I'm glad I have a 2018 because it's got all the pops and crackles and great sound that first sold me on the C63S. I came from a CLS63S and when I test drove the 2018 C63S over a year ago, it had me at hello. I was blown away by the sound. My first 2018 was a coupe but it got totaled in a minor accident and I ended up with a Cabriolet. They both sound amazing compared to what I heard on Mike's video.

Sounds good enough to me in this video. “ Pushes you into the seat. It’s almost kicking you into the seat. Such, get over there, sit in that seat.” Legend

Really don't get it, why does the sound from the 2019 facelift models seem to be so inconsistent? Some videos it sounds noticeably dull compared to before, some videos it sounds like the press release videos. Also differing accounts of the sound from owners themselves. Guess I'll have to see for myself when my 2020 arrives in October/November (hopefully).

That’s because the sound IS inconsistent. I’ve revved the car before and it’ll pop and crackle just like the pre-facelift. Sometimes it’ll refuse to pop at all.

No pops ever when downshifting though. Which is disappointing since buddy’s 17 C63 w/o PE had crazy downshifts.
