He was driving a 1/2 ton pickup. I hit him just behind the drivers door. T-bone. Definitely hoping for a write off! Car only had 9000 kms.

So sorry to see this Glad you're safe. I'm hoping it ends up as a writeoff for you as well.
Would the body shop let you go and take it off before an adjuster comes out to check the car?

The adjuster has been at there shop for two days while they investigate the cost of repair so I am too late for that.

first, sorry to read of your crash also - and glad you were unhurt. I can almost accept a little speeding or lane-changing, but running traffic lights is unacceptable - and it's becoming more and more rampant as i can't tell you how many lights i sit at that turn green, only to see another few cars go through - and the light i'm facing wouldn't turn green until a good two or three seconds after the light they are running has been red for that long... #smh - and reason for my dash camera - anyway, glad you are ok - and sorry about the car.
...i would agree with this approach, as the performance mod you installed isn't part of the insured value of the car (unless you had it specifically added to your policy) so i wouldn't hesitate to go and get it at an appointed time - much like a roof rack - it's simply something you added that isn't included in the insured value of the car - and when removed would in no way impact the salvage value. go get it man!
There will be a moment when the adjuster is done looking at the car, then you can go in and get any remaining belongings. Just let the shop know that you plan on stopping by to get a few last personal belongings out of the car, then get your dinan at that point. Don't make a big deal about it, just get in there and remove it, play it off like its a minor quick thing. When my porsche was totaled, they took it out to a junk yard after the adjuster looked at it. Insurance company let me go out and get my remaining belongings including removing all my aftermarket stereo components using tools..(amp, head unit, subs, etc). Not sure every insurance will let you, I would just do it unless I'm stopped by the shop for a good reason.

It took me over an hour to remove all my parts I wanted to keep out of mine while people were working around me, walking by and driving by. I literally had to rip apart and break some of the center console to get my stereo out and rip/cut a bunch of wires...No f's given... why.. because your car is piece of junk/salvage at this point. I guess it just depends how bad you want to keep it man. Good luck

ahh... well that does complicate things somewhat. Maybe just respectfully address this with your adjuster and explain your concern, imo, a reasonable adjuster would realize this is something that was added that has no impact on the insured value of the car or its salvage. Good luck.

You can unplug the Dinan piggyback from the harness and plug in the bypass plug in its place in less than a minute, it should have been included when you bought the piggy. Just leave the harness attached to bypass plug and the sensors. You won’t have the wiring harness, but you’ll at least have the piggyback which is the most expensive part.
